However with only a few minor details as the only weak points, Electronic Arts did a bang up job porting the Harry Potter storyline over to the PSP. The execution of the magic spells and the top notch presentation makes this game a definite buy for Harry Potter fans and for those gamers looking for a simply fun title to pop into their lonely PSP.

Harry Potter’s latest adventure can be found on PSP. The game changes a few of the things Harry fans have come to expect from the games, and though aimed at a younger audience, Harry fans will find a lot to like in the game. The PSP version of Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire is a port of the console versions. There were a few features taken away to make sure that the game works on the PSP – namely the multiplayer and voice acting – but everything else has been ported over in tact.

When all is said and done, Goblet of Fire for the PSP might not be a great Harry Potter game but it’s a worthwhile game to own if you’re a hardcore fan of the books and movies.

As Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger enter their fourth year at Hogwarts School of Wizardry and Witchcraft, new challenges await them, both "professional" and personal. The Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire video game sticks strictly to the adventure aspects of the story, never touching upon the sticky relationship drama that makes up key subplots in the novel and the film. You'll still have plenty to do in the game, though: Guide the trio of young wizards through various locales, fight magical creatures, solve puzzles, and usher Harry through the Triwizard Tournament challenges just before a climactic showdown with Lord Voldemort himself. Though the collection aspects of the game are a drag at times, The Goblet of Fire still does enough to keep Potter fans engaged throughout.

As a whole, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire for the PSP is an entertaining adventure, but it is not a game for non-Potter fans. The visuals, music and voice acting are beautifully done, but the same can't be said for the storyline, and controls. The game is well suited for the handheld version, and the extra mini-games, and game sharing options are great additions. This is definitely worth a rental for the weekend if you're a fan who can't get enough of the movies, but the simple gameplay, and repetitiveness become tiring quickly.

Worth Playing
I don't find it particularly embarrassing to tell you that I'm about as into Harry Potter as a grown man could be. Actually, that's not exactly true – I still have some semblance of wanting to keep my friends and loved ones, and that tempers my love for the franchise somewhat. Nevertheless, I have enjoyed nearly everything Harry Potter-related I have experienced, and that includes several of the previous video games. This was not the case with the PSP version of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. This is a game with a built-by-committee feel and a somewhat lazy port feel – the result is a rather clunky, unexciting game powered by a remarkable property. While the Harry Potter look and feel of the game will make it playable for fans, there are far better choices for the player who doesn't dream about days in wizard school.

The irony is not lost in knowing J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series, easily one of the greatest creative phenomenons of recent years, is left in the hands of Electronic Arts, a company constant criticized for their lack of originality. Fans of the boy-who-lived have ridiculously high and picky expectations, too, making it no small feat that EA has consistently managed to develop surprisingly entertaining video-game adaptations of Rowling's universe of magic and muggles. The production values have been brought up another notch on each successive sequel, and you'd be hard pressed not to see where it's all going when you're playing The Goblet of Fire, the next of Potter's adventure at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
