The characters look pretty familiar, but the multi-tiered courses with multiple paths seem fresh and imaginative. Hot Shots gets the details right too, auto-saving your statistics, marking long shots, and featuring varying weather conditions. As an indicator of how much I enjoyed the game, it's the one PSP title I've played where the batteries keep dying on me! Previous Hot Shot games were always fun to play against friends, but thanks to this slick portable edition, you don't even need friends anymore!
Listen up all you Tiger Woods fans and PC golf snob wannabe's: the goofy character designs and flat-out silly caddy antics of Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee imply a bit of "kiddishness," but the game is plenty grown up in terms of features, playability, and fun. Get this title now and enjoy outstanding golf n' go action on the PSP.
Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee is an outstanding achievement in porting a major console golf title over to a handheld system while retaining all of the gameplay nuances that made it the classic it is today. It might be a bit light on content but it more than makes up for it with tight controls and challenging gameplay. The lack of any substantial load times is also a huge benefit and allows you to sneak in a quick round of golf anywhere and anytime. If you love golf and want a challenging game without all of the baggage that comes with Tiger Woods then look no further than Open Tee. It doesn’t get any better than this.
Although a lack of an infrastructure network mode is disappointing, there’s no doubt that the fun factor and replay value of the game are very high. Hot Shots Golf Open Tee delivers a great balance of simulation with arcade style golf gameplay, and this reviewer recommends that you give HSG a shot.

I've always been a fan of the Hot Shots brand of golf - big heads, crazy colors, unbelievable courses, and a learning curve so perfect that everyone thinks it was built just for them. Each match requires constant vigilance, but the game is pretty fair overall. The ball physics are (once again) nearly spot on, and the courses feature some of the most insane greens I've ever seen.
As we said in the introduction, most gamers would choose one of the more illustrious titles to pick up with their new PSP. However, no other game is better in showing you just how good the PSP can really be than Everybody’s Golf. Great presentation, slick loading times and good graphics combined with first rate golfing action make for one heck of a product. It’s also worth noting that Everybody’s Golf is economical in its use of the PSP’s battery and the game seems to last at least an hour extra than most games on the system. However, it’s so addictive that you’ll be playing for hours on end. Only on the multiplayer side of things does the game fall short. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that a sequel will put this right because with a game this good we desperately want one.
Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee is quite possibly my favorite installment in the series so far. Although I still remain a bigger fan of Tiger Wood’s Golf on console, Tiger’s load times and swing mechanics on handheld have really left a lot to be desired. Hot Shots Golf truly steps up to the plate and delivers a game with the depth we’ve always come to expect from the series but always lots of replay value and customization to be done. There are so many characters, costumes, gear and courses to unlock and the gameplay is so addictive that it’s not impossible to play this game until a second PSP installment hits stores, whenever that may be. Hot Shots Golf is without question the best golf game on any handheld right now and even die-hard Tiger fans can’t deny how good it is.
For the most part, golf games don't generate the kind of buzz that other sports games do. Be that as it may, Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee is definitely worth getting excited about. The game plays like a song by taking the fundamentals of golf and charming the hell out of them. This is a personal favorite on the PSP thus far. Everything that made console versions great has been scaled to near perfection, making the handheld experience a real treat.
Jawoll!

The Hot Shots Golf series hasn't changed much since it began on the PlayStation. It's always borderline between over-the-top and simulation, offering deep gameplay with a lighthearted side. Clap Hanz recently put out the fourth edition on the PlayStation 2, and they've done a wonderful job porting the gameplay to the Sony PSP. Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee isn't too much or too little for a nice handheld title; it's just right.

It does take a good deal of time to unlock new courses, but when the gameplay is this addictive, spending a few extra hours on Open Tee's greens really isn't a problem.
I really had a blast with Hot Shots Golf, this is a great pick for any gamer who likes golf, but isn't obsessed with the sport. There are enough characters, courses and unlockables to keep you busy for a long, long time. This game is one of the best sports games on the PSP and interested minds should check it out.
As the game stands, I think it is one of the best PSP games out there. If you have a PSP you should try this game at the very least. I play very few sports titles and I still play it to this day.
All in all, the game is not bad, but the animations of the characters and the sounds tend to get repetitive sometimes. I felt like I was in kindergarten again sometimes when playing it, but don't take that as something bad. Unleash the golfer and the child in you with a gaming product that isn't a star, but has the appeal needed to lighten up your day.

Whether or not the Tiger Woods or Hot Shots series is better is debatable… just not on the PSP. This is a far easier, more enjoyable golfing-on-the-go experience. Where the developers at EA were more concerned about making their game mimic the home version at whatever cost, SCEA made sure the game worked on the system is was being developed for. That extra effort makes this a must buy for fans of the series, the console, and golf.
Everybody's Golf lives up to its billing, for the most part. It's an easily accessible golf game that should suit all but the most stiff-necked golfing enthusiasts, while still appealing to the mass market. It's also a superb portable game, simply because you can play an entire tournament, or just one shot while you're waiting for the next train.
We're sure there's a solid, sound reason why Sony Europe has effectively washed its hands of the Everybody's Golf series in Europe over the past five years. Okay we're not - the only good excuse we can think of is that Sony's localisation team were too busy hooked on this giddily addictive rival to Tiger Woods to ever actually get round to releasing Everybody's Golf 3. Whatever. Big-headed anime-styled golfing action is back on these shores at last and the world feels like a better place because of it.
When it comes to console golf games, there are three options: You like Tiger Woods, you like Hot Shots, or you don't like console golf games. The preferences comes down largely to gameplay mechanics, though the differences between Tiger's mostly realistic PGA style and Hot Shot's colorful anime aesthetic are significant factors, too. Despite some detestable load times, Tiger Woods has already made a solid showing on the PSP. But now it's Hot Shots' turn. Open Tee capably translates the Hot Shots look and feel to the PSP, making it an accessible and entertaining golf game on its own. As a result, it's a fine alternative for those who simply don't like their golf Tiger style.
Golf games aren't for everyone. You can't really call them flashy and if one leaves the ground of the pure simulation, you often end up with an arcade game that one gets bored with after a couple of minutes. A look at the box of Everybody's Golf immediately shows that we've got to do with the pick-up-and-play category of sports games. I therefore was wondering whether this game could interest me longer than an episode of The Bold and the Beautiful.
I managed to win an Open Tee tournament while cleaning my teeth this morning. This is testament to both the brevity and simplicity of the game. It's rare that you really need to use both hands at once, so it's a great game for filling in otherwise boring blocks of time. Always rushing your oral hygiene routine? Plop your PSP down on the counter and bang off nine holes in five minutes. Your pearly whites will be scoured of every last remnant of plaque before you know it.

I'm not saying that I'm very good at this game, in fact I would probably lose against a blind man but I just don't care to spend the time necessary to become Zen-like with a few simple control commands. It's just not worth the payoff for me anymore than beating my buddies at a real game of golf is.
