Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06 addresses the main gripe with the previous portable entry, adds a number of new courses, and includes some of the recent changes found in the console version of the game. Though this may not be enough to recommend an upgrade if you already own the first PSP Tiger Woods, newcomers that skipped the previous game should find a lot to like here.
GameZone (Oct 14, 2005)
Since it’s launch a while back, the PSP launch titles included one of the most beloved pro golf franchises that is still being enjoyed on all three consoles. While it was great to see Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 on a handheld, it wasn’t exactly the most perfect version of the game. Well the new season is here and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06 feels less like a rushed production and more like the game fans of the franchise, like myself, have been waiting to play on their new favorite handheld.
IGN (Sep 26, 2005)
EA's Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06 should practically be a household name by now. After all, the franchise been available on home consoles for over a half-decade. However, for Sony's PlayStation Portable, it's only been around for less than a year. It was right there to launch the PSP and this hasty release date was, perhaps, the main reason for its good, but not great, level of quality and playability.

PSX Extreme (Oct 28, 2005)
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06 is a much better game than the Tiger Woods game that came out for the PSP’s launch. The load times are dramatically better, and the controls are less frustrating, but it doesn’t offer anything more from a gameplay standpoint. If you don’t already own Tiger Woods for the PSP, then this is the game for you. If you do already own it, and the only thing you disliked was the long load times, 06 is worth a purchase too.
GameSpot (Oct 18, 2005)
It's been fewer than seven months since EA Sports rolled out Tiger Woods PGA Tour at the US launch of the PSP. It was a fine translation of the Tiger Woods experience, though it was marred by some exceptionally poor load times. This is the main issue addressed in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06, though the game also features a number of new courses and a few somewhat arbitrary adjustments. If you've not yet picked up a PSP golf game yet, this is the one to get. Its value to someone who picked up EA's first PSP offering, however, isn't quite as clear-cut.
I know that some like the new analog putting while others don't, so let that be your guide when deciding between this game and the edition put out this last May. Given that Tiger can't always get a good handle on his shots, I'd say that Hot Shots still rules the greens of the PSP.
Missing the mark on the PSP in its first outing, EA's Tiger Woods 06 is actually playable this year. Gone are the absurd load times (obviously because a of rushed product), and they now more closely resemble the console version. It's still behind in the feature set, the multitude of modes cut down and single player only includes the Rivals mode, also changed from the home versions. Where it matters is on the course, and Tiger 06 fares only ok.
