Virtua Tennis 3 is fine fun for even the uninitiated. Not only did I have a good time playing through the cornucopia of kooky minigames, but I also came out with a firmer knowledge and appreciation for tennis itself. The graphics may not be totally up to PS2 standards (I was disturbed to see that my player's textures tended to tear during the little cut-scenes between matches), but on the small screen you can hardly notice. After all, what counts most to me is whether or not a game can capture and keep my attention and if I have fun while playing it, and on those courts, Virtua Tennis 3 is unmatched.

Overall we were mightily impressed with Virtua Tennis 3, and we can recommend it to newcomers and veterans of the series alike. The home console versions of the game might offer flashier graphics and better online support, but the PSP holds its own and manages to offer a superb game of tennis on the small screen.
Even with its handful of minor flaws, Virtua Tennis 3 is a tremendous amount of fun, and a perfect travel companion in your PSP. Between the addictive minigames, career builder, and stylish on-court play, you won't find yourself disappointed. Working your way up from a playground wannabe to a world champion will be one of the most rewarding objectives you'll accomplish in quite a long time; just be prepared to invest the time to make it happen. It's worth it.
In the end, this is a great handheld sports game to rally around, but there are a handful of unforced errors that will irritate.
