As mentioned previously, for a poker game to be bad, something would have to be terribly wrong as all you need to do is stick to what works. WCP 2 does this, but at the same time it also manages to add enhancements that make it more than just a mere 'pick-up and play' time waster. Whether you want some fun poker action on the go or a more in-depth and involved experience that captures the more advanced aspects, it's hard to go wrong with World Championship Poker 2 PSP. It could still use some fine tuning here and there and one could argue a lot of the game isn't ideal for PSP gaming, but most of the important things are done right in this game, and it shows.
World Championship Poker 2: Featuring Howard Lederer is a solid poker title for the PSP. Don’t expect this genre to win any awards in the near future but World Championship Poker 2 can be entertaining. This game isn’t going to sell because of mind-blowing graphics or its innovative sound. World Championship Poker 2 is a fun poker game to play and does it’s job, a poker title without a lot of bells and whistles.
Whilst WCP2 is a confident poker rendition, it will always find it hard to compete against a real world game; for one thing the beer and snacks aren't quite the same in a virtual world. The algorithms are a good approximation of real world play, but inevitably fall down from time to time, and lack that spark of imagination that makes Poker so addictive. The online play obviously helps with this, and the career mode fleshes out the game to provide better value for money. Combine this with the none-too shabby expert poker style and we probably have one of the best poker games of the year on PSP.
There's no shortage of choices when it comes to playing poker in the video game world. If you're a fan of the game looking to be dealt a hand at your leisure, you can't go wrong with World Championship Poker 2. The game's impressive A.I. and variety of gameplay will keep players coming back for more, even with its noticeable flaws. Although title has been dealt a few bad cards, the overall hand is still strong enough to win the pot.
For hardcore poker players that want a real experience, there are a ton of titles out there and even Websites where you can go. For those of you who would rather play a game and have fun, WCP is all in.
