Windows or XBox?
Matt Neuteboom (941), Mar 01, 2009
User AvatarI have the possibility of getting the Windows version for free (off a friend) or the XBox Version for about $30. Is the console version worth the money or should I just grab the Windows version from a friend? Just asking becuase I personally think that PC's are terrible for platforming/adventure controls and camera movement. Thanks everyone!

User AvatarI played it on my PC with keyboard and mouse and thought it one of the best games I ever played. The mouse and keyboard controls work quite well, it's definitely not a bad port. The mouse and keyboard controls are in any case better than in other platform games from its time like Beyond Good and Evil and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. The latter games eventually pursuaded me to buy a gamepad.

So if I were you I would just get it for the platform you most like to play on.

User AvatarI've played it twice. Once with a keyboard/mouse combo, second time with a Logitech gamepad. In both cases this is one of the most wonderful games ever. It's just so full of genuine wonder!

I'd pick it for PC, if only because it's just the best platform evar.

Yeah, Psychonauts is great. Thinking of how diverse the different levels (or minds, respectively) were in terms of style and gameplay, I've got a quick and simple question for everyone: which one is your favourite?

My favourite one is Gloria's Theatre by any means. Loved that boss fight against the fat theatre critic. As a rule, I found the later levels much more inspired and interesting than the early ones.

That's a simple question? Man, it's like asking which is your favorite girl at a beauty contest, where you have blondes, brunettes, Latinas, Asians, all colors and shapes... mmmm....

Uh... sorry. Got carried away. But seriously, I don't think I can answer your question. I can only say which levels are my least favorite: The first two or so levels (Oleander's training and Sasha's shooting gallery) were good, but not genius enough for this game. Also, I don't really love the last level. Nice idea and all, but too "hardcore platform" for my taste.

Everything else is just pure genius... the fish city, the mind of an actress, Napoleon battle... unbelievable.

If I really had to choose... I think I'd go with that Milkman level. Incredible atmosphere.

LOL, but wouldn't that still be a simple question? Of course, that a question is simple, doesn't necessarily mean, the answer would be easy to give :)
