Humongous Entertainment Crafts Its Biggest Putt-Putt Adventure Ever:
Putt-Putt Travels Through Time Hits Stores June 1
More Than 1 Million Putt-Putt Games Sold to Date and 40 Awards of Excellence Earned
Woodinville, WA, April 30, 1997 -- Start your engines. On June 1, the world's favorite talking purple roadster will hit the streets in Putt-Putt Travels Through Time, his biggest Junior Adventure to date. Putt-Putt's new CD-ROM from Humongous Entertainment, creators of award-winning hand-animated games for kids and a wholly owned subsidiary of GT Interactive Software Corp. (NASDAQ: GTIS), will deliver more locations, characters and mini-games than ever before.
"In Putt-Putt Travels Through Time, we chose to create interactive worlds that totally fascinate kids -- from the Age of the Dinosaurs to Medieval Times, the Old West and the Future," said game co-designer Nick Mirkovich. Putt-Putt's dog Pep, Smokey the Fire Engine lunch box, calculator and history report are accidentally pulled into Mr. Firebird's Time Machine. Kids must help Putt-Putt travel through time to find Pep and his school supplies and return them to the present so that Mr. Firebird can close the Time Machine.
"During their search, kids travel back and forth between places in time to solve problems and help new friends. Every game is full of new surprises. As in Freddi Fish 2 and Pajama Sam, items needed to complete the game are found in different places every time kids play," said Putt-Putt Travels Through Time co-designer Matt Mahon.
New Worlds Full of Fun and Learning
Special games and activities test memory, challenge math skills, teach about shapes, and encourage creativity. Friendly characters share fun facts about their lives and world with curious kids.
The Age of the Dinosaurs -- This land of volcanoes and tar pits is full of towering personalities, including Ms. Brachosiaurus, who holds the key to unlocking the secrets of the dinosaurs; a flying Pterodactyl; and an itchy Apatosaurus. Play a game of Jumble Rocks with a Tyrannosaurus Rex, who moves rocks with pictures on them to help you unscramble an image, or try to repeat a sequence of eruptions in the Follow the Volcano game.
Medieval Times -- Kids can watch Merlin work his magic, feed Sir Blaze the dragon, or have Sir Poundalot the blacksmith make a suit of armor that might come in handy. Players can test their aim in a game of Shoo Crow Shoo and have royal laughs listening to King Chariot's jokes.
Old West -- Visit the Tire Flats train station, become a Junior Conductor, and earn a nickel to buy provisions from Lurlene at the General Store. Enter the stable to enjoy tunes from the singing horse Virgil Clyde. Ride Toby the Train to Gold River and see what pans out when you visit prospector Silverado Sam, or stop at Hubcap Hill to explore an old ghost town. The desert is full of animal tracks that challenge pattern recognition skills and can lead to surprising discoveries.
Future -- Floating cars, teleporters and robots are just a few of the surprises in the future. Art T. Fact might show you a useful item from the past in the museum. Kids get a charge out of using Miss Electra's Battery maker and love repainting Putt-Putt their favorite color with her Paint-O-Rama machine. Check out Darian the Librarian to see if he has a book you need. Use the library's Silly Story Maker to create, read, listen to and print hundreds of different funny stories with pictures that change every time you create a new tale.
