Dragon Fire is a wonderful blend of adventure, puzzle-solving, action, storyline and humor. There are very few (if any) games out there these days which fit all these categories. This is a must-play game for any Quest for Glory fan and is bound to make those new to the series devout followers. It is my pleasure to give this game a score of 95 points. Hats off to Lori Cole and the whole Quest for Glory team for another success.

Most games of this genre sometimes do not appeal to certain people. To satisfy these people there is the element of fighting in a Diablo-type style. Since I enjoy games of this type, I found it extremely enjoyable and have already played this game for uncountable hours. The combination of good graphics, sound, gameplay and setting give Quest for Glory a gripping atmosphere. The game is very absorbing and keeps you pushing to find a solution, even when none is in sight.

Is Quest for Glory V a game for novices or for those new to the series? Sure. Yet it can also be even more appreciated by someone who has played the previous games. It is a well-balanced and fitting finale to a beloved series.

This game incorporates almost seamless gameplay and combat, brings back the characters and the humour of the past five games, and does so with the perfect end to the tale of the man who wanted to be an adventurer. Every aspect of this game showed that it was polished. If there was ever an example to show the world of how to end a series, this game would be it. Play the first four, and then play this. It's not gaming perfection, but it's close to it.

The magic is back!

Be that as it may, whenever I become bored with the currently available gaming fare and want to be entertained, inevitably I pull out my Quest for Glory V disk … I still get the same sheer pleasure and gaming satisfaction playing today as I did when the game was new. Some might call it timeless—I like to think this particular game fits into the old adage that, "like a fine cask of wine, gentlemen just get better with age." Thank you, Corey and Lori Cole (and Sierra)!

Quest For Glory V: Dragon Fire is a really good, fun game that will intrigue a person's mind as well as provide enough excitement to keep a person from getting bored. The 3D graphics are a nice upgrade, but are not the main points of the game that really make it what it is, it is the huge detail and complexity that really make this game stand apart from every single other game not in the Quest For Glory series. A great story combined with a good soundtrack also help to make this game as fun as it is.

Quest for Glory V is a very good game with a decent story. The plotline is very predictable, which does take away a little of the fun. The game is still quite entertaining and worth checking out. Fans of the series will find more to like than newcomers, since many references are to existing characters and world events. Bottom Line: Quest for Glory V is a role playing game with a strict adventure-style storyline. The graphics are very nicely done, and the sounds are top notch. Importable characters is an excellent idea. The plot is predictable, but fun. The role playing system could use a few tweaks, since certain tasks are difficult to accomplish quickly in the heat of battle.

Quest for Glory V: Dragon Fire is a game that exists largely due to its strong fan base. After the disappointing sales of Quest for Glory: Shadows of Darkness, Sierra On-Line temporarily shelves the series. Eventually, fans convince the company to allow co-creator Lori Cole to finish the epic story. Since its inception, the game has found itself in a position of living up to a great legacy. In early 1999, the new management at Sierra On-Line announces the closure of Yosemite Entertainment, the original Oakhurst facility for the company. Quest for Glory V: Dragon Fire is the last game in development by Yosemite Entertainment. As such, this game represents not only the end of a series but the end of an era.

In erster Linie Grafik-Adventure, in zweiter
Linie Rollenspiel, in dritter Linie Action
– ein Mix, der keine Bauchschmerzen verursacht.
Vielmehr ist es einer der ganz
wenigen Titel, bei denen mehrmaliges
Durchspielen halbwegs Spaß macht. Die
Hauptstory ändert sich nicht, aber je nach
Held müssen Sie andere Lösungswege finden.
Manches Rätsel ist dabei ein wenig zu
rätselhaft, die Grafik bietet Mitte-90er-Jahre-Niveau. Das unpräzise Kampfgehacke
irritiert Actionfans, das Abtippeln
der langen Wege in Silmaria gestaltet sich
etwas mühsam. Trotz alledem ist Quest for

I really enjoyed my first ten hours of Quest for Glory V, but as the game wore on, I became more frustrated by the pace of the game and the pixel-hunting instances of gameplay. A better interface, a quest log that showed you what you had to do, and better handling of combat would have alleviated some of my concerns. I did finish the game, and I enjoyed it overall, but the ending was definitely disappointing. As the final farewell to Hero, this game should have at least included an epilogue of some sort that let you know what happened to Hero and all his companions. Quest for Glory V has a few quirks and problems that will try your patience, but series fans will want to play this game to see old friends and follow Hero's last adventure.

Despite the game's shortcomings, its high-quality story, characters, puzzles and dialogue make DragonFire an excellent, and most delectable game to play—especially for fans of adventure games.

WindowsIGN
In the end, Quest for Glory V is a good looking adventure game with an excellent storyline and laudable replay value that suffers a great deal due to a few really annoying play features. If you're a big fan of the series, you may want to brave the game's quirks and just save every few seconds in order to find out what happens to your old friends in this installment of the game. If you're new to the genre though, you may find that Quest for Glory's negatives make the game a little bit closer to work than fun.

I wouldn't dare to say Quest for Glory V is a bad game. There are too many people playing it and loving it to justify such a statement, and there were moments when I thought it was really fun. It is not a game for everyone, though. The plot does not move the game along, frequently dragging along when followed, and the interface can be both engaging and irritating. Music and scenery make for a very pleasing experience, and frequent interaction with characters provides a good degree of variety; but too much time is spent travelling and searching from scene to scene for needed items. Both gaming platforms have had considerable bug reports of the game as well as mixed reviews. Mac gamers in particular will feel a strong sense of "catch up" with the storyline. Despite the bugs and problems with the gameplay, though, it is a very substantial gaming experience that delivers a good deal of entertainment for your money.

Dragon Fire is an entertaining game, but it's lost some of the old spark in this episode. Also, it's plagued by a sprinkling of continuity problems as well as by some dreaded bugs. The interface is simple point and click although the lack of a separate action cursor can have your character dancing around sometimes when you attempt to manipulate something and end up just walking in that direction instead. You can navigate by mouse or keyboard and the inventory layout works well with a handy 'belt' or display at the bottom of the screen where you can store a limited number of items and spells that you might need in a hurry.

Considering how innovative and fun the previous Quest for Glory games have been, Dragon Fire is a huge disappointment. From the bland story to the horrible graphics, everything that could go wrong has. It is almost as if they tried to make a bad game. Don't waste your money on this stinker.
