Accolade did a great job with the conversion of the two styles. It has opened up a whole new field which I'm sure others will attempt to mimic. Steady balance of in car and on foot gameplay with explosive graphics. If you're an action fan, your money has probably grown dusty, it's time to brush it off.

Redline is meer dan een recht-toe-recht-aan shooter. Je zult af en toe echt je hersens moeten gebruiken en ook het racegedeelte voegt zeker wat extra's toe. Tel daarbij op de schitterende ontploffingen en het fenomenale geluid en de conclusie lijkt gerechtvaardigd dat we hier met een bovengemiddelde game te maken hebben.

Overall, I find the game quite enjoyable. While I believe it would have profited from things like bodywork damage and better strafing, it’s perfectly playable nonetheless, and is definitely worth checking out. However, if there’s only one car combat game you’ll buy this year, you may wish to hold off for Interstate ’82 – that, undoubtedly, will be a killer. That said, check out Redline – the line maybe thin and red, but it’s great all the way ‘till the end of it.

If not for the few, yet pronounced errors, Redline would be an A- game. It has fantastic graphics, high energy action, engaging single player, varied and frantic multiplayer, and a great sense of style. Still, if your in the mood for the action game equivalent to the movie "The Matrix," look no further, your game has arrived.

Redline ist ein innovatives Spiel, das mit einigen netten Ideen und einer guten Fahrzeugsteuerung überzeugt. Wären die Aussetzer der KI nicht, könnte man es gar als sehr gutes Spiel bezeichnen. So ist es eben „nur“ gut, denn Spaß macht das Ganze auf jeden Fall. Für Fans von Ego-Shootern auch heute noch eine Empfehlung.

Redline не станет супер-хитом, тем паче, что сама игра появилась как-то незаметно, без бурных аплодисментов, внимания избалованных налоговыми инспекторами торговцев пиратчиной, фейерверков и разрезания красной ленточки бензопилой стараниями "спешл гвеста" Евгения Примакова. Тем не менее в наше тяжкое время, когда любая вышедшая новая игра напоминает тысячу еще более плохих игр, вышедших до нее, Redline не может не греть душу не только своим оригинальным замыслом, но и добротным, кровожадным и хищным его исполнением.

Redlin heeft mij even kunnen boeien door de afwisseling rijden - lopen en de soms heel knappe graphics, maar dat euforiegevoel maakte al snel plaats voor ergernis door de veel te lange laadtijden en de soms ergerlijke besturing. Spijtig, want deze titel was veelbelovend. Misschien dat er in multiplayer toch de nodige spannende momenten kunnen beleefd worden, maar wat singleplayer betreft: ik speel liever nog wat Half-Life als ik van graphics én gameplay wil genieten!

Redline skulle säkert ha blivit ett riktigt höjdarspel om Beyond Games hade fortsatt utvecklandet i några månader till. Det finns dock inte en patch i världen som kan fixa till fotgängar-delen, den är och förblir tråkig.

Redline has moments when it really shines, like when you are driving around the countryside, but once you get out of your car the game blows a tire and gets flat.

Redline wird durch seinen Fahrzeug-wechsel-dich-Aspekt erfreulich 3D-Shooter untypisch. In einer Mission müssen Sie zum Beispiel einen besonders kampfstarken Gleiter aus den Händen mysteriöser Technologie-Mönche stehlen. Einmal an Bord des Wunderwerks gelangt, können Sie den hilflosen Bemühungen der Mönche, Ihnen den Raub wieder abzunehmen, hohnlachend begegnen. Welch faszinierendes Gefühl der Macht! Läßt man diesen Aspekt beiseite, bleibt ein eher durchschnittliches Spiel übrig. Die verschiedenen Gegner im Shooter-Part verhalten sich nicht viel schlauer als Schaufensterpuppen, die eigene Figur kann leicht an irgendwelchen Kanten hängenbleiben, die Grafik ist durchgehend trist. Immerhin wird, gute Englischkenntnisse vorausgesetzt, durch die langen Missionsbeschreibungen viel Atmospähre aufgebaut. Und zusammen mit dem zynischem Humor, den Autofahrten und den gut strukturierten Missionen hält die Weiterspiel-Motivation doch erfreulich lange.

Vor allem die imposanten Explosionen sorgen für Stimmung. Langfristig an den Bildschirm fesseln kann mich Redline trotzdem nicht – dazu ist die Steuerung der Vehikel zu mäßig, und die Levels sind viel zu öde geraten.

The real tragedy of Redline is that no small amount of creativity went into its missions. There are only twelve missions, but they have multiple evolving objectives. Don't be fooled by the laughable briefings conducted by a blatant rip off of Taurus from Interstate '76; once you get into the actual game, the action sprawls across large areas with some interesting designs. There are plenty of clever twists. One mission features arena combat, another involves guarding and placing a truck bomb, and another will have you chasing an airplane down the tarmac. There are even branching events that affect what happens later in the mission. The game never degenerates into simple key hunts. It manages to stay unpredictable enough that you'll look forward to the next mission. Well, you would if it weren't set in so mediocre a game. Redline is fueled by some impressive hi-octane creativity, but it's wasted without a more powerful or polished engine.
