The game was developed in about a month. Programmer Tim Tyler about his programming (Retro Gamer #3):
For example, I didn’t use a level editor. Instead I drew the levels on a piece of paper, converted the characters to numbers in my head and typed them in – in binary! Editing was a similar process.
Inspiration
Tyler says his inspiration was a review of Boulder Dash. However, he actually never played it until about ten years after the release of Repton.
