Attention, danger !

The best N-Gage game yet, and up there with the best on any platform

The humor alone is great, but Reset Generation also has a complex, challenging multiplayer mode. It's easily worth playing for hours on the Web for free, but if you have a Nokia phone, Reset Generation is also a must-buy for the road.

Regular readers might find it shocking that mobile upstart Reset Generation can bust in our miserly, Scrooge-esque reluctance to hand out any "A" grades. It may not be as revolutionary as Bioshock or as you-got-a-problem-with-that imposing as Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, but nonetheless, it’s official: Reset Generation has ended the age of ‘mobile gaming’ second-citizenship. Here’s hoping its approach of addictive gameplay, slick functionality, layered strategy, and loving, geek-homage humor inspires a shitload of ambitious imitations.

Which is really rather generous of Nokia, considering Reset Generation is an excellent game. It's got more depth and charm than a lot of the rubbish old tat on Xbox Live or PSN. It offers a real challenge and real rewards for investing your time and using your brain. It's got a multiplayer mode that's fantastic fun, even if you're completely rubbish at it. Worth rushing out to buy a new phone for? Not quite. But worth playing for free on the PC? Yes. Worth emailing the link around so all your friends can play the tutorial in time for the lunch hour? Absolutely. Just don't bother CCing your Mum.

Put plainly, Reset Generation is a game that demands attention: brazenly derived while never feeling derivative, a paragon of complexity out of one-button accessibility, and, while it would have would have been welcome on any platform, it’s precisely the flagship title Nokia both wanted and needed for its upstart N-Gage service.
