Great graphics, great puzzles, and a fantastic story that most gamers will love to spend time with. No real deviation from standard graphic adventure format. If you love graphic adventure, you'll find your heart's desire here.

The Riddle of Master Lu will take you on many of Ripley's journeys as he attemps to solve an ancient mystery surrounding the tomb of the First Emperor of China, Chim Shih Huang-di, by traveling all throughout the world.

The Riddle of Master Lu er langt fra noget traditionelt eventyrspil.

All things considered, The Riddle of Master Lu is a top-notch adventure combining an absorbing story, challenging puzzles and mysterious locations in a well thought out and well presented game. Thoroughly recommended.

The Riddle of Master Lu.

If you are an experienced gamer, you will love The Riddle of Master Lu. If you are a novice, you will find the going tough at times and may need help in one or two spots, but will ultimately find it a rewarding experience. I have to admit, though, that, regardless of the maze, this is one adventure I would truly like to see a sequel to ... Believe it or Not!

I was very impressed by this game. I have enjoyed playing games of this sort ever since I picked up Police Quest 1 for my Atari ST. This game more than holds it's own with any of the Sierra On-line or LucasArts titles that are currently out there. I am sorry that Sanctuary Woods is not in the entertainment software business anymore, because I was looking forward to a sequel to this one. Oh, well, I guess this one will have to do. My advice is to buy this one and enjoy it . I did.

Overall I really liked this game. The characters were excellent and the puzzles were doable but very challenging. It is obvious the care the writers took in researching Robert Ripley and creating wonderful locales for him to explore. I will take this opportunity to plead to the creators of this game to please come up with a sequel-I would buy it in an instant.

By my personal definition a graphic-adventure must include at least three ingredients – a good story (the essence), appealing graphics (preferably from a 3rd-person point of view) and a variety of inventory-based puzzles (well, I do like to look for things). Regarding these aspects ‘The Riddle of Master Lu’ is a direct hit. In order to be able to fully enjoy this game, though, one should possess a little experience in the genre and above all in pixel-hunting, as I said it is not a game for beginners who will most likely become frustrated soon if it’s their first adventure. I got on very well with the English version (which unfortunately doesn’t provide subtitles) but as the German version is also available nobody here has to feel excluded.

I can assure you that this is not a game you finish fast, not at all! A few years ago when I first bought it I got so frustrated that I ended up using the walkthrough, and even with it I couldn't finish the game, quite funny when I come to think about it.

In this Indiana Jones-meets-Charlie Chan tale you direct the action, wending your way through animated scenes, solving puzzles, and evading foreign assassins. Although the interlaced video and animation are adroitly executed, there's not enough humor or Sunday-matinee mystery to make you care about finding the buried treasure. Maybe this disc could have used a bearded lady or two after all.

All said, Master Lu is a giant game with good intentions and a number of the ingredients that make a successful adventure, but its unforgiving interface ultimately led me to frustration, not recommendation.
