Game Vortex
If you crave the experience of hurtling through space, surrounded by the sweaty bodies and wild screams of humanity's dregs, you need to see Wal-Mart on a Saturday. What I mean to say is: Road Rash Jailbreak satisfies every guilty craving you've ever had during rush hour, burns off 'road rage,' and brings motorcycle combat to new levels. It doesn't do this by looking slick, or even sounding slick. To be honest, it's not even superslick to play, but it's fun!

So in the end EA proves the skeptics wrong and releases an excellent game. They have improved the game by making it more stimulating, with the addition of multiplayer modes and so much more. I am definitely hailing EA for this one, this really is a great way to start off the New Year. For any RR fan you should go and pick up Road Rash: Jailbreak, or if you can't wait just go and order online.

Overall, Road Rash: Jailbreak puts the fun back into the Road Rash series, reemphasizing the fighting while still maintaining a good racing experience. If you're into beating motorcycle punks and cops off of their bikes with chains, bats, crowbars, or your bare fists (and hey, who isn't?), then this is definitely the game for you.

Another irksome addition is the re-introduction of running back to your bike after a crash. I had hoped this mechanic had left the franchise for good but it would appear not - it's back and just as infuriating as ever. Often, during these tedious jogs you are hit by several more bikes, sending you on another airborne journey and wasting yet more time. I know that this happens in all Road Rash games, but it seems even more aggravating here. Overall, I find it hard to pick between RR3D and Jailbreak - a combination of the two that featured Jailbreak's improved handling and combat with RR3D's fantastic courses would be my ideal Road Rash game, but with that merely a figment of my imagination, I suggest you try out both and make up your own mind which you prefer.

In Jailbreak, the bikes are easy to steer and, with the exception of running into stationary objects, very hard to crash. Players can race faster and make more money by finishing better in the race. More money means more fun. The biggest draw to Road Rash is still very prevalent in Jailbreak. There are more than 45 new combat moves for riders to perform on their assailants. Players start out with different weapons, and, as in preceding Road Rash games, every weapon can be stolen, even the police officer’s billy club. Attacking your opponent is rewarded with a combat bonus. The more you kick and punch the more money you get. But remember, if you irritate the wrong racer, chances are he will fight back, and there is always a lurking police officer waiting for the wrong person to fall off his bike.

Even with age, the series still remains as enjoyable as it was over 10 years ago. This excellent addition brings the series back to it's 16-bit roots unlike it predecessor, Road Rash 3D. Once you get past the outdated graphics, players will realize that gameplay is what really matters. With up to 20 other riders to worry about, there is always something going on to keep gamers occupied. Any fan of the series will find enough enjoyment with this game that a purchase is recommended. Those looking for aesthetics should stay away however.

The original Road Rash was the proverbial starlet; it had moxy. There was just a certain intangible "it" that made it fun to play. After nearly 10 years, the series is getting a little old, and even with a solid foundation in gameplay, Road Rash: Jailbreak just doesn't have "it." This game's a definite rental, if only for the great 2 player modes and the fact that it's fun to pick up and play for a while. But the thin single player experience may leave you wanting more.

Game Revolution
As Road Rash games go, this is one of the better ones. It has fair graphics, nice gameplay, some interesting (but occasionally flawed) multiplayer games, and still has the same unadulterated sadistic fun of the series. But with all of that comes a number of unpredictable elements that can get aggravating. If you've never played any of these games, maybe you should look at the Genesis version first. Now get out of my way!

Super Play

All Game Guide
If you haven't had your fill of Rashin' from prior games in the series, no doubt you'll enjoy this one. But those gamers expecting something other than the "same old Rash" may find Road Rash: Jailbreak a little bit too much like its predecessors. From the graphics to the sound to the majority of the gameplay, it all boils down to another set of missions for Road Rash 3D.

Road Rasher Jailbreak n'est pas un mauvais jeu, il s'améliore nettement par rapport à l'épisode précédent... Mais il reste un jeu creux, complètement creux.

If you're looking for a fighting game that features combos and super moves that coincidentally also happens to involve motorcycles, Jailbreak is it. If you're looking for the high speed racing thrills of Road Rash, look back in your library.
