Roberta Williams' King's Quest VII: The Princeless Bride

While King's Quest VII is a great game, I still liked part VI better. Sure the graphics are better in VII, but I felt the story line and characters were better done in the previous game. Part VI also had a more conservative and dark look to it when compared to the cartoonish King's Quest VII. Still, whether you are an experienced King's Quest fan, or a newcomer, get ready for one of the best adventures to come along since...well, King's Quest VI! This game is highly recommended and really should not be missed.

Sierra on onnistunut luomaan tavattoman hyvän pelin. Suloinen piirrosfilmityyli, överiksi heitetty naisellisuus, (nytkö se on överiä? Alussa se oli ihastuttavaa... _tl) kohtuullinen vaikeustaso, hyvä pelisysteemi ja kaikin puolin viimeistelty toteutus puhuvat puolestaan. KQ 7 on viimeinkin SE peli, jonka takia kannattaa painua rautakauppaan ja ostaa itselleen romppuasema ja vaikkapa pari megaa lisää muistia. Minä pidin pelistä tavattomasti ja uskallan suositella sitä melkein varauksetta kelle tahansa.

King's Quest VII: The Princeless Bride on monella tavalla aivan uudenlainen Sierran seikkailupeli. Sierra on remontoinut pelisysteeminsä täysin. King's Quest VII käyttää uudenlaista pelirunkoa ja monet toivotut parannukset ovat viimein nähneet päivänvalon. Sierra on onnistunut luomaan tavattoman hyvän pelin. Suloinen piirrosfilmityyli, överiksi heitetty naisellisuus, kohtuullinen vaikeustaso, hyvä pelisysteemi ja kaikin puolin viimeistelty toteutus puhuvat puolestaan. KQ 7 on viimeinkin SE peli, jonka takia kannattaa painua rautakauppaan ja ostaa itselleen romppuasema ja vaikkapa pari megaa lisää muistia. Minä pidin pelistä tavattomasti ja uskallan suositella sitä melkein varauksetta kelle tahansa.

Valanicen osana on jäädä söötin tyttärensä varjoon, kuningatar kun on luonnottoman kohtelias lepertelijä, jota ei auta lievä ylinäytteleminen. Modernin Rosellan osuudet ovat jännittävämpiä ja vivahteikkaampia kuin äitinsä. Kokonaisuutena The Princeless Bride on mukavaa seikkailua, joka osoittaa, että on yhä sellaisia pelintekijöitä, jotka osaavat käyttää tekniikka edukseen. Lopuksi varoituksen sana: peli ei sisällä väkivaltaa.

King's Quest VII is absolutely magical and without a doubt, the episode with the most magic of the saga. You will discover magnificent landscapes, strange and sometimes mysterious characters along with many riddles that will keep you occupied for hours on end.

Sierra always delivers pretty, enjoyable graphic adventures. The interface doesn't leave much for the gamer to do, and the save-game method stinks. It's not the best graphic adventure--or even the best in the KQ line--but it's fun and pretty and not too hard.

Jag förstår att Windows kommer att bli framtidens spelplattform, men i det här fallet längtar jag tillbaka till gamla hederliga DOS. Windows har ju den egenheten att göra även den värsta hulkdator till att röra sig som sirap.

The King's Quest series is a giant, maybe even a classic, in the computer game arena. Oh, it has its critics, but as the various games in the series have remained popular long after most of their contemporaries have slipped into oblivion, it seems a reasonable assumption to make. I can hardly recall a time when there wasn't one of the Daventry royals surveying me from the game shop shelf, even the very earliest titles have stayed around. Now the latest in the illustrious line has just stepped up to take its turn, and no doubt it will follow in the footsteps of its predecessors and gather a whole new collection of fans.

King's Quest is een mooi spel wat de graphics en geluid betreft. Het verhaal zelf vond ik daarentegen een beetje te zoet. Zal wel aan mij liggen, want 2,5 miljoen kopers kunnen niet allemaal softies zijn, toch?

Sierra On-Line’s King’s Quest VII: The Princeless Bride is, in my mind anyway, the final game in the best-selling series. The series deviates to hack-and-slash 3-D in the eighth installment (Mask of Eternity), and while it leans perhaps a little too far in the other direction in King’s Quest VII—which plays like an extended Disney cartoon—it at least maintains the sense of innocence that is the series’ hallmark.

The latest incarnation in the King’s Quest series continues with the adventures of Princess Rosella and Queen Valanice in the magical realm of Eldritch. In King’s Quest VII: The Princeless Bride, the central story involves the marital status, or rather lack of, of Princess Rosella. Designed by the venerable game designer Roberta Williams as well as Lorelei Shannon, the latest King’s Quest tells the story of a classic fairy tale of love and justice. Featuring animation that rivals that of Disney, the game’s simplistic interface sports a new level of intuitive gameplay.

So let's get the pig out of the barrel (not that I keep pigs in barrels or anything): I didn't like Kings Quest VII. It was boring, had a horrible interface, was laughably easy, had sort of cheesy voice acting, and it turned a strong-willed female character (Rosella from Kings Quest IV) into a ditz that acted like she belonged in Clueless.

It was boring, had a horrible interface, was laughably easy, had sort of cheesy voice acting, and it turned a strong-willed female character (Rosella from Kings Quest IV) into a ditz that acted like she belonged in Clueless. All an especially hard blow after the wonderful Kings Quest VI, which is definitely the best of the series, if not one of the best adventure games ever released.
