NESTop Secret

Atari STST Action
Possibly the worst let down for a sequel ever... Robocop 2 the movie flopped big time. The game on the other hand offered everything a good follow up should.

Atari STACE (Advanced Computer Entertainment)
Robocop's animation is excellent. Althought all the characters are smaller than in the Amiga version, they move more naturally. In this version, Robocop cannot fire directly upwards and must take time out to punch open packing cases. More attention must be paid to going the right way, since too long a fall will kill Robo.

AmigaACE (Advanced Computer Entertainment)
Large graphics and pretty good animation. Control over Robocop is comprehensive. Unlike the ST version he can shoot open packing cases and bins, and fire vertically. Long falls don't seem to damage Robo too badly.

Amstrad CPCMean Machines
Robocop 2 shows GX4000 owners just what their machine can do. The graphics are superb, with excellent presentation screens, great sprites and colourful backdrops. However, the game's a real swine to actually play. On the platform levels, there's hidden traps aplenty that'll have you rapping your head against a brick wall with annoyance. Progression through the game doesn't seem to rely on skills of any description. Although Robo is a graphical treat, the game itself is only really recommended to avid Robo-fans.

Robocop 2 is a very hard platformer and even the most experienced games player might have trouble in completing the later levels.

NESNintendo Power Magazine
RoboCop is heavy from all of his metal plating, which makes him somewhat difficult to control. With some practice though, you'll be able to blast through the city with the best of them.

No... no.. dear God, no! THEY MADE MORE! The same team that was behind the stinkfest Darkman has to be behind this game as well. It simply reeks of them. Now I thought the fact that Darkman existed was bad enough, but now we find out they were allowed to make MORE games!? Do you remember at the end of Evil Dead, when Ash has just killed everyone and survived the Deadites, only to turn around and see the camera springing at him through the door? That look of horror on his face? That's how I'm feeling right now.

Solid film license property which benefits from good design elements, great audio visuals, and decently varied game-play. Amiga Nick Drew (369)
