Robo Warrior est unique. J'ai joué à beaucoup de jeux, écrit beaucoup de tests pour 1UP en dix ans, fit maintes fois appel à des comparaisons, "comme dans Castlevania", "comme dans Zelda", mais pas une seule fois un jeu m'a-t-il rappelé Robo Warrior. On pense plus facilement à Bomberman et à sa formule finalement conventionnelle répétée ad nauseam. Les aventures de Zed sont elles inimitées et inimitables. Parce que son style et son principe sont passionnants, il laisse une empreinte indélébile parmi ceux qui l'ont connu à l'époque et, espérons-le, parmi ceux qui continueront de le découvrir.

a skilled player who enjoys a merciless, old-school challenge, give
this one a try.
In all, I think this is a good little game. A little bit difficult, and multiplayer would have been a nice option (though I think the slowdown would’ve been at unacceptable levels) but overall, good, clean fun. There’s not much to come back to though once you’ve played it for a while, and there’s no real incentive to complete it, but it's a good laugh in short bursts.
Bomber King seems to belong to this group of Famicom games with impossible to solve puzzles (based more on luck than anything else) that require the purchase of a guidebook. An adventure-style Bomberman would have been great, but in reality Bomber King is just a missed opportunity and it falls to the same curse that plagued other games such as Milon's Secret Castle. Such a crying shame... Bomber King is definitively a love-it or hate-it kind of deal.

Sounds great doesn't it? Sadly, it's not. The small, almost misshapen hero marches along, kills an alien etc and ... that's about it. The only relief from tedium is to pick up the special powers. The backgrounds are as static as the action: the obstacles change colour from level to level but the actual layout remains the same. Granted, the aliens are pretty tough to beat. But make sure that you have a good supply of matchsticks and strong coffee handy.
Unfortunately, you only have one life to get through each incredibly difficult stage. The environments in each stage will continue to repeat until you find the chalice. Also, you won’t be able to exit the stage until you find the key. In the meantime, you’re bombing every nook and cranny in search of those two valuable pieces of progression, while nasty enemies continue to bombard you and your life steadily lowers. Compared to the relaxed pace of Bomberman, Robo Warrior is tense and frustrating.

Bomberman veterans will find this concept hard to grasp. It's also quite easy to get caught up in the scenery while trying to take cover, and blowing yourself up is a common occurrence. If that's not bad enough, you'll need to keep an eye on your energy level, because it drains constantly and you only have one life! Should you manage to reach the end of a stage, you'll still need to figure out which rock the exit is hidden under! On the bright side, Robowarrior's soundtrack absolutely kicks ass, and the game has an addictive quality that kept me coming back for more and more punishment. I use the term advisedly; Robowarrior is brutal.
