DescriptionStranded in the depths of outer space, the player has to guide his ship back to Earth. The Robotic User Brainwave Interface (or RUBI for short) will help the player in this task, as he has to assemble the pieces of a cube full of monitors while repairing emergency malfunctions and avoiding loss of fuel.
Rubik's Cube Challenge is a variation on the original idea of Rubik's Cube. The player has to combine rows or columns of three equal cells, trying to complete each stage's goal (usually completing a given number of blocks matched). The cells can be moved either by dragging them to a new location or clicking in one cell and a vertically or horizontally adjacent cell The cube can be rotated horizontally or vertically, and the rows and columns can also be rotated independently. Matching more than one row or column at the same time grants bonuses to the player.
Each stage has a time limit, represented by a fuel meter at the right side of the screen. If the fuel meter is empty, an energy cell will be used to refuel the ship again. When all energy cells are used, the game is over.
Occasionally the player will face special stages in which the objective is to rotate the cube in order to find the unlit cell in the cube and reactivate it (by clicking it). The fuel in those levels is depleted much faster than usual. Level's final stages are jigsaw puzzles of still images. In latter levels the cube becomes bigger (with sides of 4 cells, for instance), making more combinations possible.
The game has more than 50 stages and three levels of difficulty.
