Sacred 2 is an excellent game that excels in many aspects while not doing anything terribly new or innovative for the genre. The biggest selling point is definitely the game’s abundance of content, which can keep you busy for a very long time, and the ability to play with friends makes this experience even more worthwhile.

Sacred 2 turns out to be a great couch game, largely because you can play co-op with a friend at your side. But the real surprise is that the folks at Ascaron managed to create a mostly great interface for the XB360 and PS3 controller, giving you faster and easier access to more combat abilities than you could use in the PC version. I never thought I'd say this, but I don't think I can go back to playing Sacred 2 on the PC. The price paid for more combat abilities is the occasional graphics hiccup and slightly more hassle when it comes to inventory management, but you're going to sell most of that stuff anyway.

In case it's annoying to have the paragraphs cut off suddenly, I'm prepping you for the experience of Sacred 2. For the most part, you're playing a slick, streamlined action-RPG that knows how to move as fast or as methodically as you want. But sometimes, it grinds to a halt. Underneath the open-world thrill, the addictive character advancement, and the lovely graphics, something is unstable. Sacred 2 is fussy about graphics settings, prone to crashing, and given to inexplicable slowdown. Usually a quick save and reboot addresses everything nicely, getting you right back to--

I have to say that this is seriously in my top 5 RPG’s this console generation and that is saying a lot with such company as
Mass Effect,
The Elder Scrolls Oblivion and
Fallout 3. So saying that I say this is a must buy for role playing gamers is no understatement and I am hoping for downloadable content and a sequel. This maybe a rental for a few but it is a must buy for everyone else.

This game overall has a lot of good qualities with very few negatives. This is large like Just Cause with the gameplay of Diablo and Elder Scrolls put together. If you’re an RPG lover and can’t wait for Diablo 3 orthe next Elder Scrolls then this game is definitely for you. Along with great combat, a large world and great landscape this has a story that is structured and well done. Give this game a try I promise you will not regret it!

Sacred 2 is an action-RPG loaded with hundreds of quests, thousands of items and a menagerie of monsters. Gameplay is combat-driven so don’t expect to sneak around like a thief and you pick the good or evil path before launching the game so there are no moral quandaries to get in your way. If you need to feel immersed in a fantasy world, then Sacred 2 isn’t for you – but if you’re looking for a game that offers Diablo-style action and WoW-level of addiction, I highly recommend Sacred 2.

The bottom line here is with
Diablo 2 ten years behind us and Diablo 3 still off in the distance somewhere, being a mediocre version of the great one is almost a compliment. Almost. And Sacred 2 almost succeeds in its imitation. It has all the critical elements of an action/RPG level-grinder up and working, even managing at times to inject some of its own peculiar personality into the mix. It’s pretty easy to get into the killing and looting and have a grand old time, particularly when doing so with a couple of buds online. Sure it’s a little bizarre sometimes, and the constant barrage of junk can be a little tedious to go through, but for a hack-and-slash’er this ain’t half bad. The best news is if you do get into it there’s a ton of game here, between the huge world and endless quests, not to mention several scaling difficulty levels, you can be at this one for a long time to come.

Sacred 2: Fallen Angel is not the perfect console RPG but it’s really enjoyable and highly addicting. I’ve played many action RPGs over the years most of them on the PC, so playing a big RPG on a console is a welcome change. The controls are solid, the interface is simplified and the fighting is satisfying. I recommend giving this adventure a try to anyone that looking for a good action RPG.

While there is a main story thread throughout the title, because of the amount of quests (nearly 600), the narrative gets lost. Nonetheless, the massive amount of enemies to dispatch combined with all the weapons and magic you get to try throughout the game keeps the excitement levels high.

But with that said, Sacred 2: Fallen Angel still manages to be an entertaining romp. Ancaria is an interesting world to explore, with many weird and wonderful creatures to slay along the way. It's not the most original game you'll ever play, but it does what it does very well and if you are twiddling your thumbs waiting for Diablo 3 to come out, this is a more than acceptable way of spending your time until that happy day.

Sacred 2 is fun for what it is, but ultimately fails to capture the old Diablo magic. Combat is nowhere near the tight, tactical paradise that Diablo II could reach in its better moments, and the framerate is a constant drag. Targeting spells like meteor showers or teleports is slow and clumsy on a gamepad, and the AI for followers is pretty broken. Still, you’re not going to find a comparable title on 360 or PS3, and Sacred 2 is a decent enough way to get your experience grind on.

Sacred 2 improves upon its precursor in many ways. While some elements of it still need work, much of the game is a good example of the evolution of the hack-and-slash game. An open world, a myriad of quests, enough loot to satisfy anyone, and of course some stable online play certainly adds to the appeal. Some bugs in the code have been reported (though many patched out), and other problems such as the over-complexity of stats and attributes do mar the game’s gameplay. In the end, the game’s not perfect, but it is a step for the genre in the right direction.

A hack-and-slash RPG quest of massive proportion, Sacred 2 caters to the throng of players who are anxiously awaiting the eventual release of Diablo III. PC gamers who've been salivating over the prospect of the next Diablo will undoubtedly seek temporary solace in the familiar gameplay found in Sacred 2 and be willing to turn a blind eye to the title's annoying bugs and occasionally repetitious play mechanics just to get their fix. Indeed, overlook the few minor irritating aspects of the game, and you'll find Sacred 2 to be surprisingly enjoyable.

Sacred 2 lends credence to the claim that console ports in a genre normally reserved for the PC can work. In fact, with the exception of menu interfaces and loading times in towns, this is actually better than the PC version, if just for the fact that it didn’t crash once during my combined 50 hours of playtime. More than just a slap-dash effort, Sacred 2 succeeds because of its rough but focused and raw attention to the essence of its genre.

Sacred 2: Fallen Angel is just your typical everyday hack-and-slash RPG title. You'll take on a number of quest and slay thousands of monsters during your journey. On that journey you'll also collect massive amounts of money and become the supreme super being of Ancaria. Even with some technical shortcomings, Sacred 2 is a fun hack-and-slash game for the home console scene. If you have some pals willing to hop online for a few play sessions, this will definitely keep you enthralled into the late hours of the night.

WindowsIGN
As far as Diablo-style hack-and-slash action-RPGs go, Ascaron Entertainment's Sacred 2 is the best genre entry since Titan Quest. It offers a huge world to explore, tons of loot, plenty of monster types, and lots of ways to customize its six character classes. While it does have a quirky personality, it doesn't offer much as far as its narrative goes that's compelling, and the game suffers from numerous bugs and technical issues, including poor friendly AI, game crashes and performance problems, hopefully something that gets worked out over the coming months through patch updates. It's also not a game that tries anything truly novel, just a lot of tried-and-true quest, kill, loot, and repeat mechanics. With others online it's a much more enjoyable experience, but as of right now the US servers are more or less empty, something that hopefully changes in the days and months beyond release.

There really is a lot to like about Sacred 2, but only as long as you are willing to put up with the constant need to micromanage your journey with a high tolerance for FedEx-type questing. For players who can't get their fill of killing hordes of monsters and collecting loot no matter what the local NPC may ask them to do for it, opening the nearest portal to Ancaria's past might just be the thing that their sword arm or wizardly aspirations will enjoy as the perfect distraction.

If you like Diablo-style games, Sacred 2 is for you. The single and multiplayer options included provide nearly endless replay value for fans of the hack and slash genre. The lack of seriousness in the world of Ancaria stopped it from pulling me in as worlds in games like Diablo have. Regardless, Sacred 2 provides a very customizable character system, nearly endless quests to complete in a huge world, and improves a few notable aspects of its genre to boot.

PlayStation 3Console Obsession
Sacred 2 may have its fair share of problems but they’re not enough to truly get in the way of the games achievements, namely its vast world and the largely well executed fighting, looting and menu fiddling facets that make for such a highly addictive game. In spite of this, there’s no getting away from the fact that, free of its problems, Sacred 2: Fallen Angel could have been something truly special.

If you like dungeon crawling and slaying hoards of wild boars in hopes of obtaining that Blowgun of Treasure Destroying, you’re going to overlook all the negatives I’ve laid out here. In truth, I’m ignoring them as well. This game is fun. If it weren’t for the limited local multiplayer and general lack of polish, it would be a lot more fun. A few meaty patches and this would be a must buy, but I don’t see this game selling enough copies to warrant that kind of support. As it stands it really is hard to recommend at 60 bones. You owe it to yourself to at least give it a rental. There are better games to spend your money on this summer, but none that will scratch that random loot itch quite like this.

Sacred 2: Fallen Angel is rough around the edges, but it’s still an extremely addictive action RPG. In a genre where console gamers currently have a limited choice, it’s a solid entry to the PS3’s software library. Be warned before you do rush out and get it, though: Sacred 2 is a game for hack ‘n slash, dungeon-crawling enthusiasts only. Others may tire very quickly of doing the same actions over and over again and find that the steep learning curve is a little too much to bear. Ultimately, while the overall Sacred 2 experience may not always be flawless, the good certainly outweighs the bad.

Sacred 2 isn't the greatest hack-and-slasher, but it's a slickly put-together one with tons of quests that will give you dozens of hours of playing time both online and off. Even with its repetitive missions and other design issues, like so many other reasonably well-crafted kill-loot games it has a way of getting under your skin and keeping you entranced for hours at a time.

Sacred II nails the unfettered joy of exploring a wide-open fantasy world and ties it to the always-amusing process of building a heroic avatar to meet the stiffest of challenges. To dismiss it merely because of its (dozens of) missteps is to lose out on the many things it does well.

Although you've already seen just about everything that Sacred 2: Fallen Angel has to offer, the game is impressive enough that it seems more exciting and fresh than dull and familiar. It could use a patch to clean up some of the instability, and more efficient ways to move around the map, but this is still the best action-oriented RPG to come along since Titan Quest, and a truly addictive experience in its own right.

For the people on the lookout for a new RPG to play and especially the ones who are awaiting Blizzard’s Diablo 3, Sacred 2 might just pass the time for you. It won’t replace your Diablo 3 thirst, but it will give you something to play in the meantime. It’s a decent enough RPG that if you look past the ancient style of gameplay will give you something entertaining. It looks nice, lasts long, plays fine and it does most of the stuff it set out to do. So if you fancy spending hours smashing peoples face in and pimping out your character then by all means try it out, just don’t expect something overwhelming.

Fun combat, crazy depth, and varied character classes outshine clunky menus and complex interface issues. It’s certainly no

For players looking for an action-RPG loot grind offering plenty of gameplay hours, enemies to kill, and numerous ways to kill them, you'll find it in Ascaron's Sacred 2: Fallen Angel. You'll also find an inconvenient interface, mediocre visuals, and a few technical drawbacks that keep this from really being a standout experience. The story and the game's eccentric, seemingly random sense of humor could provide satisfaction for some, but ultimately it lacks the character and strength required to keep any solo-type of player engaged. The true draw here is the combat and class customization, so if you've got a few friends around, it could serve as a solid distraction for a while with its options for online play while you wait for something better to come along.

WindowsDeaf Gamers
Sacred 2: Fallen Angel is a good follow up to the impressive Sacred which first appeared over four years ago. However, deaf gamers will feel as though they've been given a raw deal seeing as so much of the dialogue isn't subtitled. The bugs and graphical glitches are unfortunate and it's hoped that the developers will iron these out as quickly as possible. Sacred was a surprising success when it released back in 2004 and probably the biggest disappointment with Sacred 2 is that it hasn't improved upon that winning formula. In some respects Sacred 2 isn't as good thanks to the bugs and glitches it's shipped with and mostly uninspiring quests. Despite its problems however, Sacred 2 is still a good action RPG and, with future patches hopefully fixing the main problems, it will be a game that's worth the asking price for fans of the genre providing you're not put off by so much dialogue not being subtitled.
60
Xbox 360RPGamer
Ultimately, how much you'll enjoy Sacred 2 depends entirely on what you're looking for from the experience. It's a simple hack 'n' slash dungeon crawler, and at that it succeeds. But with virtually no story and a myriad of pointless, distracting side quests, the game relies almost exclusively on multiplayer for a complete experience. Anyone who played and enjoyed the Diablo series' single player campaigns could probably find an enjoyable, thirty hour experience in Sacred 2, but the excitement of character development starts to slow as the game progresses. For Diablo fans wanting something to fill up the time before Diablo 3, however, Sacred 2 is the next best thing.

PlayStation 3GamePro
Sacred 2: Fallen Angel is a mindless blend of walking, jamming on the attack button, and repetitive objectives -- but it still ends up being a lot of fun, provided your patience can tolerate the crippling halt after a technical meltdown. It's not a deal breaker, but it'll certainly tip the scales in the wrong direction for anyone using Sacred as a genre stepping stone.
60
PlayStation 3PSX Extreme
Sacred 2 has the potential to be a good game. Ultimately, it's combat, boring story, convoluted world map, and lack of character customization drags it down considerably. With just slightly more fluid gameplay, this could've been a fairly enjoyable experience that fans of the genre would like. But unfortunately, all of those flaws coupled with bland visuals make for a game you're better off passing.

PlayStation 3TheSixthAxis
The game looks nice and as a hack ‘n slash adventure in single player is a great experience. Take it online or register another pad to the console, and the fun to be had in multiplayer is plentiful. The looting and levelling up provides that addiction to grinding through hordes of creatures, and trading with friends online is genius. I would like to give this game a higher score to reflect this, but the bugs mentioned in this review are unforgivable and can ruin an otherwise great gaming experience. If you have a lot of patience and don’t mind restarting the game a couple of times each time you play it, then sure, pick it up. Otherwise I would wait to see if Ascaron pull their finger out and fix the crushing bugs hampering a game that would otherwise be a must-buy.

"Sacred 2: Fallen Angel" é um RPG de ação que pouco inova a fórmula celebrada pela série "Diablo". Embora o repertório de poderes dos heróis seja bacana e quatro jogadores consigam fazer um bom estrago em partidas online, a interface complicada e os problemas técnicos diluem boa parte da empolgação, especialmente nos consoles. It needs to be said that Sacred 2 is still rife with minor bugs, but patches are slowly mending the game-crashing bugs and graphical mishaps. This is just one of many clues that point towards an overambitious design document that didn’t have enough time or manpower to execute fully. While Sacred 2 shoots for the works - with a world on a grand scale, leveling on a grand scale, quests on a grand scale - as if it was following the lure of the Holy Grail, it would have been far stronger if it concentrated on perfecting fewer elements. Nonetheless, Sacred 2 remains as enjoyable as its Diablo inspirations, though it likely won’t cause as many sleep-deprived, merrily heinous, gold-laden dreams.

I will admit that it took me a while to warm up to Sacred 2. The character development system is just different enough that it took some effort (and several re-starts) to finally begin figuring out what how best to play. In fact, I probably stuck with it longer than I would have because this was a review game. I would wager that many players won’t have that patience, and so Sacred 2 may not have a terribly wide-ranging appeal. There is a decent game here, but it certainly won’t appeal to all gamers, and not even to all action RPG fans. Personally, I’ll probably head back to this from time to time, but I know it won’t be eating away the hours like other titles manage to do.

Sacred 2 is an experience that gives a good first impression but falls apart under scrutiny. There are too many flaws to really recommend it and the only redeeming feature I could draw your attention to is that there exists comparatively few action RPGs for next gen consoles at the moment. As a multiplayer game, it can provide some entertaining moments with some like-minded friends. As a single player RPG, it is deeply flawed.

Sacred 2 suffers from a sort of "cargo cult" design mentality. It treads the ground pioneered by Diablo and Diablo II well enough. If all you're looking for is hours and hours of basic monster-killing, leveling up and sifting though loot, Sacred 2 hit all the bases competently enough -- or at least it will once a few patches clear up the nastiest bugs. What it misses is the nuance, the charm and the challenge that marked both the original games and the best of the Diablo clones (such as Titan Quest). In short, Sacred 2 is a game that's easy to miss without really missing out.
