Description
Japan, 1920-ies. After having defeated the ultimate evil, the charming ladies of the Hanagumi Squad and their young commander Oogami Ichirou believe that Japan is safe forever. But their archenemy is resurrected by a mysterious hand. And even though the heroes defeat him once again, they realize that sooner or later they'll have to confront the masked demon who has brought their foe back to life, to find out who or what is pulling the strings behind the scene, and to revive once again the tragic past.
Being a direct continuation to the first "Sakura Taisen", the second installment is very similar to it graphically and gameplay-wise. The game is divided into adventure and battle modes. In adventure mode, you control Oogami Ichirou, moving around the theater (to which your base is disguised), trying to initiate conversations with the girls and choosing timed responses, which influence your relationship with the girl and also her parameters in combat. Battles are pre-set and take place on large isometric fields, on which you navigate your mech-piloting girls and Oogami Ichirou himself, fighting enemy forces in turn-based combat. There are two new characters in the game, and several refinements to the timed answer system.

Trivia
Sakura Taisen 2 on the Dreamcast came in two different packages. One was just the game itself. The other was a Special Edition box that included a PuruPuru Pack (Jump Pack) with a Sakura Taisen 2 logo screened onto it, a mini-pack of trading cards, and a Preview Disc of Sakura Taisen 3.
