Even though Gran Turismo 3 may be the most in depth racer on the market, San Francisco Rush 2049 is by far the most addictive. Without a doubt San Francisco Rush 2049 not only redefines arcade racing games, but it rewrites the books on what you can and cannot do. This Dreamcast port brings everything you loved about the arcade game, and gives you so much more.

Really good racing game and very fun, go out and buy it if you want a good time. If you buy one racing game this year, buy Test Drive: Le Mans. But if you buy two, buy San Francisco Rush 2049, its one helluva game!

Rush games have always offered a huge amount of replay value, and this title is no exception. There are tons of things to unlock such as cars, tracks and parts to customize your car. The stunt mode is extremely addictive, and the multi player battles are intense, even exploring the levels and finding all the shortcuts and coins could take hours at a time. This will easily keep you playing for a long time.

DreamcastGamer's Pulse
At first glance, this game would seem to be no different from any of the other countless generic franchises and tired sequels cluttering up store shelves today; something to keep little Billy entertained for a few hours, and not much else. However, those who automatically lump San Francisco Rush 2049 into this category will find themselves missing out on a surprisingly addictive little arcade racer whose lifespan actually manages to exceed that of your average mayfly. Though it's not "3-games-in-1" by any stretch of the imagination, Rush's vastly different modes and insane sense of speed offer a little something for everyone, no matter what type of gamer you may be. Whether you're looking for a change of pace from lengthy RPG's, or just enjoy playing video games with friends, San Francisco Rush definitely warrants a closer look. Just don't expect the thrills to be, you know, stimulating or anything.

This is racing the way I like it - pure arcade action! Forget realism, I want simple controls, fantastic tracks, and gravity-defying gameplay. Rush 2049 delivers all of that and more. It's the kind of racer you can just turn on and have fun immediately. The futuristic graphics allow for wild road designs full of shortcuts and ramps, but I wasn't as impressed with the graphics as much as I thought I'd be.

DreamcastDigital Press - Classic Video Games
This is easily the best home version of the series so far on any console. Rock solid gameplay coupled with some amazing graphics make this one of the better second generation Dreamcast games so far. Definitely one to pick up ASAP unless you have no interest in racing games whatsoever.

Game Boy ColorAll Game Guide
Despite carrying its name, the game does not live up to the Rush 2049 label, and aside from that, doesn't even live up to being much of a decent game at all. If you're really hungry for another racing title on the Game Boy Color, you might want to give it a shot, but you'll find better options out there, even on the portable level.

Game Boy ColorGameSpot
Ultimately, the GBC release of San Francisco Rush 2049 is Rush in name only. Some slack must be given for the graphical alterations required to bring the title across, but no amount of lowered expectations explains away the rest. The game doesn't play like Rush, it doesn't sound like Rush, and most importantly, it doesn't feel like Rush. People seeking a good top-down handheld racer should pick up Micro Machines instead. Those seeking a good handheld version of Rush should simply save their pennies.
