Lord Longstep is a 19th century British officer and explorer. He shares a passion for discovering ancient world mysteries with his India-born wife Mary, who often follows him through his globe-trotting adventures. After returning to Britain from a trip to Yucatán, he finds his Manor in disarray and Mary missing from the premises. He must piece all the clues left behind by the kidnappers, and follow their track to rescue his wife.

Save Our Spirit is a hidden object game with puzzles between each chapter. The main game screen depicts locations around the world filled with scattered objects, and the objective is to find and click on all the items listed at the bottom interface. Clicking on the list entries shows their silhouette on scrap of paper at the left side. The hint button is a compass sitting at the right side, that shows the exact position of one of the required items when activated.

The mini-games and puzzles appear after the hidden object section, on a separate interactive screen. Usually they are presented as some sort of mechanism that has to be manipulated directly to solve a puzzle. In the course of the game, the player will decrypt secret messages, assemble gears on a clockwork device, find the correct code for an implementation of Mastermind with jewels and other similar challenges.
