Scrabble is the most popular and best-loved word game in the world and its translation to the computer world has been excellently done by Random Games and Hasbro. While an excellent game in solo play, its multiplayer capability really moves it ahead of the pack. If you have any interest in word games at all, put this at the top of your wishlist and rush out and buy it. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

So if you have memories of this game, run, don't walk to your favorite computer store. It has enough excitement and challenge to any and all family members stuck to the keyboard. Excuse me now, Maven is calling back for a rematch, and have I got a few for him this time!!!

I have always felt that board games make good targets for console games. You get to avoid all the setup time, losing key pieces and having to store the boxes. Scrabble is no different and makes an excellent transition to the Playstation. The graphics are kinda drab, but hey it's just a bunch of square tiles and a square board to place 'em on. Everything is crystal clear and easy to read though and the pieces are easily placed with the press of a button. The music is also rather unimpressive but it plays on nicely in the background and doesn't detract from your thought process. Overall, Scrabble is a classic brain buster that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. If you liked the board game, you are sure to enjoy this Playstation translation.

It's slow, there aren't any power-ups, no one jumps out of the ceiling to shoot you in midturn, and you can't apply stealth in any way whatsoever. If you're the card playing, board-game digging type, this'll probably be right up your alley - or you could buy one of those jazzy lazy-Susan Scrabble boards for about the same price. But don't go into it expecting Scrabble on the PlayStation to be anything but Scrabble with a cathode-ray glow.
