Description

Scrabble is a computerised version of the popular word game for Windows for one to four players. This game can be played over a network connection or on hot-seat mode. In single player mode it is played against the computer and the computer's strength can be customised in a range of one through to ten.

There are three kinds of game available:
  • Scrabble: which is the common word making game

  • Anagram: these games are a twelve round match, four rounds with five letter words, four with six letter words and finally four rounds with seven letter words. Successfully identifying the five letter words scores five points, the six letter words score ten points and the seven letter words score fifteen.

  • Conundrum: each player has the same letters with which to make a single word. The letters are placed onto a playing area which has double & triple letter & word squares as well as normal squares. The object being to score as highly as possible which does not necessarily mean making the longest word
The game has music, high score tables and is played via the mouse. It also has a six different themes, for use with Scrabble only. These change the background and sometimes the in-game animations, for example in three standard theme the CPU is represented by people ranging from a scarecrow to a professor, in another all the characters are female, in another they are in period costume and in one the CPU is represented by animals ranging from a turtle to an owl.

Scrabble Windows Failing to work out an anagram is not so bad when it's a word you've never heard of. Even Google didn't find any other answer other than it is a Scrabble word.
Scrabble Windows In this game it's the computer that plays first. This game has been configured for thirty seconds per turn
Scrabble Windows The CPU opponent can be customised, i.e. made smarter or dumber. Level two, shown here, is a scarecrow. Different themes have different characters.
