The game is not without it's problems. It's exciting when zombies are flying at you from every direction (yes, they fly!), but you'll see the same backgrounds over and over. Except for the zombies in "gangsta' gear", they all start to look the same. And where are the female zombies? And why is Captain Cooper so manly? I get tired of looking at his face (his face measures your health, the same as in Doom). Anyway, it's a good shooter. You might be tired of it after a while, but it's a lot of fun until you do.

Corpse Killer...appallingly mundane or fiendishly clever? Take your pick. Hardcore shoot-em-up vets will scream at the zombie-paced zombie zapping, but as a drive-in horror flick sendoff, Corpse Killer might wake the dead.

If you're a big fan of shooters, then Corpse Killer is a very fine choice. On the whole, Corpse Killer shows great advances in combining video and games, but until there's more gameplay to the game, I think I'll continue to watch my movies and play my games.

Corpse Killer is one of the shining examples of the genre. No wait, don't laugh yet. Night Trap was the perfect introduction, and the voyeuristic gameplay made the most sense for telling a story in cinematic language while trying to maintain some level of gamer control. It sucked as a game, and the second-generation titles tried to remedy that. You can see here how this is a standard arcade shooter, but with FMV characters and FMV cutscenes. It has enough "gamey" elements to make it a title worth existing, and the interactive movie parts support the game rather than attempt to replace it. That is about the nicest thing that can be said for such "interactive movies." It's really your call as to whether you want to consider that praise or not.

Kingdom of Desire
