Likewise the sound effects won't really catch your ear. But if you're looking to kick some ass, don't hesitate to pick this game up. Unlike the lame SNES version, the game supports two players. My wife thinks it might be better than Streets of Rage. You be the judge.

If you want the closest reproduction of the original arcade game, then you want Final Fight CD. Yes, it's just a beat 'em up, but it has great graphics, music, and gameplay. Besides, it's a Capcom original which was reprogrammed by Sega.

True black-and-blue Final Fight fans will appreciate this CD, even with its lower graphic and sound quality. It may not set any new standards, but this disc injects life into the Sega CD. If you're up for two player street brawling, by all means, slap this saucer into your system.

While the game may lack replay value, Final Fight is a timeless game. It's one of those that you'll always go back to a few times a year simply for great memories. When the time comes, make sure the Sega CD is powering the game. It's the only logical substitute for the arcade upright. Of course, if you happen to actually own the original, then that may be even more nostalgic. For the 99% of the rest of us, this is as good as it gets.

I remember when the SNES version of Final Fight hit the streets. It sold like hot cakes and though it had been eagerly anticipated, many were returned the same day. No Guy? No two player mode? Levels missing and names changed? Flicker and slowdown all over the place? Many of my friends swore a Sicilian curse at Capcom that day and were bitter over it for a long time. Never having an arcade version near me for comparison, for a long time I couldn't see what all the controversy was about, until I played the Sega CD version.

The entire soundtrack has been rerecorded to "CD Quality" with plenty of funky bass, rippin' guitar, and even a few simulated "whoas" thrown in for good measure. Opening and ending cutscenes now feature full voiceovers (hilariously bad, of course) and new animation. And a time attack mode is included with new background art. Brawler fans should definitely try tracking this one down.

Even though Capcom tried milking the series, the first is still the best. And this is the closest you are likely to get. I really do hope that someday in the future Capcom will release of equally impressive sequel, something 3D hopefully, that really knocks my socks off.
