If you own a Sega CD and have felt kind of cheated, pick up Soulstar. You'll be glad that there's finally a game that matches the price you paid for the system. It's like seeing James Brown play at the Apollo for the first time: you'll be totally amazed!

Digital Press - Classic Video Games
This is one of the few games to ever show what this system was truly capable of. Had more games been released like this, the Sega CD very well may have made an impact. Even today, nearly 10 years later, very few games offer up this much variety and graphical bliss in one title. This is one of the most under appreciated classics of all time.

I really believed that Core can deliver technically outstanding games on any platform. From start to finish, Soulstar is another winner to add to their incredible catalogue. With a market that is amazingly low on quality shooters. Soulstar comes up big. A great purchase and nice X-mas gift for lucky Sega CD owners.

Veteran rocket jockeys will enjoy Soulstar. It gets hard quickly, though, so novice flyboys should expect lots of crash-and-burn endings. Stick with it - this Star shines.

Following the destruction of his home system, Bryk Hammelt, the last of a noble race of warriors known as the Cryo-commandos, set out in his great starship, the Treaghon, to hunt down the merciless Myrkoids. He has hunted them for centuries, tracked them across the trackless wastes of the Great Divide, searched for the destructive evidence of their presence in the starfields of Maldrum Tau, and chased them at the speed of light through the hypergate at Viridium Plush.

Although you begin the game in a space ship, later stages allow you to control a helicopter or a walker. Unfortunately, some stages run far too long, and the gameplay isn't particularly exciting. Soul Star does support the six-button controller, and provides a two-player cooperative mode.
