Entertaining, but hard to control with Sega's joypad Katakis | カタキス (39516) unrated

Defunct Games (Nov 05, 2005)
The finished product here just didn't pass muster for me. As hard as it is to find games like this anymore, this one simply won't satisfy. I guess I'm saying if you really want to play a game like this, keep looking. There has to be a better one out there.
VideoGame (May, 1991)
Sega's best shot (no pun intended) at a decent game this season. Don't look for anything spectacular though. It's Gangster Town without the light gun, and with an auto-fire stick anyone will finish this one in a day. Although the graphics are great, it's not enough to blow you away.
Sega could have done a lot more to spice up the action of Dead Angle, regardless of the original's content, such as including more than a single power-up (a Tommy gun) or a couple extra music tracks. As it is, Dead Angle will provide a short and moderately enjoyable experience, but after you've taken down the last mob boss, your interest may wane as you look for something a little more engrossing.
Power Play (Feb, 1990)
Game Freaks 365 (Apr 13, 2006)
In conclusion, even collectors may want to stay away from Dead Angle. It has cool insert art, but the actual game is nearly unplayable and unbearable on so many different levels. You have to be really, really hardcore to stick with it, even if you're a Master System fan. I do not recommend this to anyone looking to check out the SMS for the first time, it will completely ruin any further impressions of the system. Some games you just wonder about. Why in the world did they release this? Why does the torso fly? Oh well, guess we'll never know, so torso away! Yeah, far away from me.
The Video Game Critic (Mar 13, 2004)
The gangsters are large, realistic-looking, and nicely detailed (some in pin-striped suits), but their movements are awfully choppy, making them much harder to hit. Once you die, your character yells "ouch!" in a wimpy, high-pitched voice. The scenery includes the streets of Chicago, the docks of New York, and a hotel, but there's not a whole lot to see. I'll give Sega credit here for trying something different, but Dead Angle is only mildly amusing.
