Computer and Video Games (CVG)
This boxing game (converted from the coin-op of the same name) suffers from the fact that the excitement is short-lived. With two players you only have one fight together, and in one-player mode there are only five boxers to confront. The action is a tad repetitive after a while as well. Not a complete disaster, but a little thought could have made it a lot better.

Dem Muskelprotz stehen kärgliche drei Schlagvarianten zur Auswahl: Rechte Gerade, Linke Gerade und ein Super Punch, der den Gegner gleich flachlegt. Von ausgefeilter Taktik also keine Spur Dazu kommen die Konter der Gegenspieler so ansatzlos, daß kaum Zeit für die Abwehr bleibt. Bis unser Boxer die Arme hochreißt, hat er sich schon ein paar Prügel eingefangen

Video Games
Obwohl das Gekloppe durch ein paar Schlagvarianten kultiviert wurde, fehlen frische Ideen, um den Modergeruch des seichten Spielwitzes wegzublasen. Was sich in der Beschreibung noch ganz gut liest, ist im Spiel selbst leider weit weniger berauschend. Selbst im langsamen Modus hat man kaum eine Chance, Abwehr und Angriff sinnvoll zu kombinieren. Die besten Resultate werden erzielt, wenn man einfach ein bißchen ausweicht, ein paarmal noch oben zielt und dann zur Abwechslung nach unten hämmert. Das Gefühl, den Kampfverlauf im eigenen Sinne zu planen und zu beeinflussen, kommt kaum auf.

In conclusion, all that really needs to be said is James "Buster" Douglas Knockout Boxing is a total failure that you'll find no enjoyment in. The main issue here is that Sega didn't really care about how god awful this piece of sludge was. Buster was pretty much a worthless boxer and the only reason he beat Tyson was the guy was admittedly high during their match and could have cared less if he won or not. So, if you look around a bit, during this short time period until about 1991 or so, Buster appeared on a few sub-par boxing titles, all of which were simply hoping to cash in on the name of the man who "beat" Tyson. Too bad all the games sucked, this version included. It's not worth anyone's time and is a great example of a company saying screw the fans, screw the console, screw the everything, but let's try to make some money while we can by using a name. The Genesis was around the corner, so games like this were thankfully released in very small numbers for the SMS.
