The new split screen mode includes handicap and "slow car boost" options, but the graphical pop-up is even more dreadful than the one player mode (as you would expect). Miscellaneous new features include end-over-end crashes and the option to view a replay after each race. I'm not crazy about the new music. There's some annoying hard rock, and "Sky High" is only present in instrumental form. I want to hear that singer!

Overall, Sega delivers a solid sequel. Unfortunately it arrives in stores about the same time as Andretti and in comparison, it just doesn't give you the same mileage for the money.
Whereas, in recent months, the PlayStation has streamlined the contours of the racing genre with a heady mix of the super-fast (Wipeout 2097) and super-slick (F1), the Saturn has rather floundered, with only Sega Rally offering any respite.
Propelled by its success in the arcades, Daytona USA was one of the first titles released for the Saturn. It was a good game to showcase the system's capabilities, though the graphics could have been better, the frame rate higher, and the "pop-up" rate lower. Sega Sports has done its homework, and with Daytona USA Championship Circuit Edition, they deliver a very impressive sequel that greatly improves upon the original.
