Un éxito arcade basado en su brillantez gráfica y su ajustada dificultad. Poder disfrutarlo en casa era, no hace mucho, impensable.

Daytonaaahhh! Easily one of the longest lasting racers of all time because of its excellent gameplay. This is a must have for all racing fans. It looks dated in 1999, but if all you care about is graphics, then watch a DVD movie...

As with all the great games, the only way to really understand how much fun Daytona USA can be is to play it. It's truly difficult to be disappointed by this one.

Regardless, Daytona's intense gameplay and breath-taking graphics will exhilarate any racing fan. And with adjustable difficulty, these tracks will challenge you for a season or two.

Daytona USA, as you probably know, is one of the greatest arcade racing games ever made and undoubtely, it will be some time before anything else comes close. But despite all the compliments we can reward to Daytona USA, there are some elements that prevent us from playing with the game whenever we want. First, the arcade is not always open when we want it to be. Second, you might consider waiting your turn before seating in the cabin AND finally, you must pay to enjoy your favorite game! These dramatic inconvenients have been taken in consideration and the result of this is the tremendous Daytona USA for the Sega Saturn. Gone now are the nights without Daytona USA. Wiped out are the waiting queues in front of the arcade and most importantly, cash will remain in your pockets (although an initial fee is required for the console and the game!).

As far as playability goes Daytona USA is everything I'd hoped for and that alone makes it a must buy. I must admit however that after playing Ridge Racer, I expected more in the area of graphics, Daytona has visible redraw problems. The new operating system will surely cure this so I'm looking forward to Sega Rally for the big comparison. Tons of codes will keep you playing Daytona for month's and the B-Univ music is good enough for the car.

Daytona, an adrenaline-inducing racing simulation, has a particularly realistic feel: Bash your car into the wall and you can see the resulting dents. (To make the illusion seamless, Sega also sells an add-on steering wheel for $79.99.)

You'll won't see those blocky-looking polygons from Virtua Racing (one of my least favorite racing games of all time). Daytona USA features texture-mapped polygons for a feel that's real. And I like it!

It's finally here, a surprise for everyone stateside. The quality of the game, mainly in the graphics, is quite noticeable from the arcade version. The scaling and scrolling of the tracks need more animations. It was disappointed to watch at first but when you get started you won't want to get off the wheel. The overall performance of this translation is well done. It needs some tweaking.

If there's one other aspect of Daytona that people love to make fun of, it's the music. The cheesy-Latin pop sounds bizarre at first, but it eventually becomes somewhat endearing. The song "Sky High" is the most hilarious of the bunch, sounding like a Japanese lounge singer belting out some really bad English lyrics. To this day, I can often be heard singing "I'm gonna fly-y-y sky high!" in the shower. Despite its quirks, Daytona USA is a fun little arcade racer that's hard to dislike.

Daytona USA shows its age very clearly. Yesteryear racers are long gone, and after playing this, I have to say, thank God. By no means am I a basher of old-time racers. In fact, I’m a huge fan of F-Zero and the Super Mario Kart franchise. When it comes to vehicle and course selection, Daytona USA fails utterly.

A gamepad or joystick is not terrible to use, they hold their own. Though a steering wheel always offers better control and makes the game much more fun. Overall Daytona USA is a decent racing game lacking in options.

Kingdom of Desire

What a disappointment. I know, I know, maybe it's the hype I was waiting for. Maybe it's the hype engine at work again, maybe it's my pure, unbridled love for Daytona USA (the arcade game), maybe it's my hoping and praying for it to be top notch, but whatever it is ... Daytona USA just doesn't live up to the arcade game.
