Electric Playground (Apr 24, 2004)
Grid Runner has not been given considerable attention by the press. Don't let that be the deciding factor over whether or not you give this game a trial run. I think if you give it a solid weekend's workout, you'll be as impressed by Grid Runner as I am. Now, Radical, can we talk about a four or eight player version of this game that would give Bomberman a run for his money?
GameSpot (Dec 01, 1996)
If you're looking for the ultimate two-player game, Grid Runner is it. No other title on the Sega Saturn is this addictive or this much fun.
The graphics are a little jagged at times but the ground warping is a cool effect. What really makes me like this one is the Two-player Mode though. I just really enjoyed running around on the grid as your opponent was after you. I think it's more of a two-player game.
Game Revolution (Jun 06, 2004)
When I first played Grid Runner, I thought "how amusing-tag your it". Then I played with a friend and it was intense. Even when he beat the daylights out of me it was fun. Then I got a little better, and I beat the daylights out of him. Then the game was really fun. Even though the one player game wears thin, the two player game is fun enough to make Grid Runner an exceptable investment.
Mega Fun (Mar, 1997)

The characters are pixelated, but the backgrounds look good, especially the snowy ice stage. Your 15 opponents are quite imaginative, ranging from a lizard man, to a Minotaur, to a crab monster, and each has a fitting home world. Grid Runner has a reasonable learning curve and provides a nice save feature.
