Sega Rally Championship

Sega Rally ranks among the best driving games currently available. The gameplay in the Saturn version is top-notch. AM3 was not satisfied with just and arcade clone, so they went on to include an extremely playable 2 player split-screen mode. Which considerably lengthens SR's lifespan. Loads of options are also included in SR. Beyond the standard difficulty and steering adjustment you can change the music for each track, create and save up to 4 custom cars, and race against a 'ghost' car of your best time (you have to run 1 race first OR have a memory cart to save the actual best time run). Also included is the Lakeside track which you gain access to after finishing first in 'Championship Mode', and an extra car called the Stratos (see cheats section). The Stratos goes about 10 MPH faster than the other cars...upon using it your times will improve even on a mediocre race.

As a well-balanced blend of driving realism and arcade fun, Sega Rally Championship is arguably the best Saturn game of all time.

Sega's kind of scary. Here, again, is an unbelievably close translation of the arcade game. This 3-D should not be possible on Saturn. Imagine the arcade game at half the resolution and frame rate...add a touch of pixelage and that's the Saturn version. This is a 180 degree turnaround from Daytona - don't let that game make you think this isn't power. And you have to buy Rally anyway, because you haven't lived until you hear "Game Over Yeah!"

Sega ha conseguido realizar una conversión absolutamente sensacional, traspasando toda la fuerza y calidad de la máquina recreativa a los circuitos de Saturn. Una obra maestra indiscutible y un título que no pueden perderse todos y cada uno de los poseedores de los cada día más afortunados poseedores de esta consola.

“Sega Rally Championship” nos trajo a Saturn toda la emoción de las carreras de rally tal cual lo hiciera la firma japonesa en su versión para recreativas. Los gráficos son increíbles para la época, la jugabilidad es grandiosa, y el juego engancha desde el primer momento. Sega logra una vez más sorprendernos con una conversión fabulosa.

Sega Rally is another quality Saturn arcade title. With this, VF2, Virtua Cop and Wing Arms, the Saturn is finally starting to put out titles that match and even surpass Playstation games in some cases. Give a cheer, Saturn owners, your patience is paying off.

I can like a game for minor, but refined details. That's why I liked Sega Rally in the first place. It had a helicopter hovering about the first circuit and was the first racing game I played which actually had brake lights. That kind of stuff impressed me a lot when I initially played this now-famous Sega Saturn title.

Overall Sega Rally is an outstanding game. The speedy graphics and awesome drifting physics make for an excellent racing experience. The only shortcoming, which isn’t uncommon in arcade ports, is the lack of length. If you want to know why so many gamers loved Sega in the 1990’s, look no further than Sega Rally Championship for the Saturn.

This game does have lots of options, including time trials, a split-screen two player mode and a car tuning clinic and is so much better (technically at least) than Daytona, you'll be kinda embarrassed you bought it. This is the first of Sega's new wave games. AM2 is the driving force behind Saturn technology now.

Sega Rally Championship kann in Sachen Steuerung und Streckendesign absolut überzeugen. Aber es ist eben sehr schade, dass man nur 3 Autos und 4 Strecken hat, das mag in der Spielhalle ausreichen, aber für die Konsolenfassung wünscht man sich doch noch ein bisschen mehr. Empfehlenswert bleibt das Spiel trotzdem.

Sega Rally Championship is an ultra-fast dirt racing game with a first person perspective view that will take you through four fantastic courses.

A great translation from the arcade. Daytona should have been done this way. The racing perspective is incredibly smooth. It's too smooth, though. You may have some trouble controlling your vehicle, but that should'nt bother you. You'll get the hang of it after a few races. In the end, the game needs more tracks.

Il successo che ebbe Sega Rally a metà anni novanta fu stratosferico; diede del filo da torcere a innumerevoli titoli sparsi tra Console e Pc. Ricordo che su Pc “girava” la prima storica versione di Need for Speed in cui splendevano dettagli grafici mai raggiunti, eppure peccava nella manovrabilità delle sue autovetture, poi su Playstation correva un certo Ridge Racer che graficamente diceva la sua, ma gli esperti del settore e la carta stampata hanno sempre decretato Sega Rally il migliore gioco di corsa dell’anno 1995/1996.

With graphical improvements and options exceeding Daytona's standards, you may want to call your local Sega dealership for a trade-in.

Overall Sega Rally Championship is a fun racing game. The tournament mode is enjoyable, though I would have liked a version with more tracks and no time limit. More cars to choose from would also have added a lot to the game.
