Shin Force
Shining Wisdom is arguably the weakest of all the Shining games seen so far, but nothing changes the fact that it's an entertaining old-school Action/RPG nonetheless. That's right, it's an Action/RPG; you wander the land as a lonesome warrior slashing and stabbing anything foolish enough to cross your path with your trusty sword, as opposed to partaking in the usual strategic turn-based battle Shining Force games that have made this series so great. Still, it's refreshing to see a single series of RPGs explore different avenues of gameplay.

It’s with a twisted sense of gain that I grin during playthroughs of my PAL version of Shining Wisdom. It’s a small victory that the copy I play hasn’t declared genocide on its roots and had a translation borne of love rather than profession. Mars was meant to be the new star of the Shining world, and a figure carrying on from a title so grand that many people still consider it the genre benchmark, and for a minority, that still holds true. For everyone else, Shining Wisdom is the ugly side to Working Designs’ otherwise commendable refitting of unimported Japanese software; perhaps one tainted by an unfortunate period where they started to believe their own hype.

Game Players
Well, this game isn't so much an advance in the 32-bit RPG genre, but it's still a pretty good game. The music and sound effects are kinda lacking, but the storyline makes this one worth the price of admission. Give it a shot!
Game Zero
Finally, a nice lengthy RPG for the Saturn. Unfortunately, there isn't a whole lot of originality here. The graphics are decent, along the line of Zelda: A Link To The Past and Lagoon. There are some cool cinemas included as well. The music and sound effects were fairly standard. The game control was easy to get used to. The gameplay style is an overhead hack and slash type game; you know like Zelda, Secret Of Mana, Lagoon, Willow, and many more.
If you look at all the Shining games from Sega, you have to say that Shining Wisdom is the most disappointing of them all. Any Shining fans hoping to get the same kind of game value from playing the Shining Force series is going to be disappointed. This is a game that they can missed out on unlike say Shining Force 3 scenarios 2 & 3. If you're a beginning rpger then you might want to check out this game as it's perfect for beginners.
