Electric Playground
Tempest 2000 rocks forever. Minter's overhaul of a classic arcade experience produced a game that is equally impervious to aging. This will be a disc that you'll still be pulling out to play when you have kids begging to borrow the car. Buy it and play it 'til your fingers bleed.
Mega Fun
All Game Guide
Truth be told, there isn't a lot of depth to Tempest 2000, but that doesn't necessarily matter. The gameplay definitely makes it a classic, and its fast-paced nature means that you'll be able to return to it again and again, preferably with a friend. This is definitely one retro-upgrade that you can feel entirely safe in purchasing.
All in all, Tempest 2000 is a challenging shooter. The game's difficulty advances smoothly, and the play is extremely well balanced. The game combines the old, simplistic graphics with some particularly nice, new touches, namely music and voices. Gamers are in store for a solid, nostalgic gaming experience.
Computer and Video Games (CVG)
So while, at first glance, Tempest 2000 looks like an outdated waste of time it does actually have a bit going for it. Its powers of entertainment lie in the frenetic action, the pyrotechnics and the pounding music. A few discrepancies mean this isn't as good as the Jaguar version but it's just as zappy, and almost as trippy.
