Description official description

In this military-themed first person shooter, you are a part of the Air Force Special Operations Group, sent deep into a hostile Middle Eastern country. You'll have to radio-in coordinates for airstrikes, demolish enemy structures, meet with covert operatives, and kill as many terrorists as possible. If DOOM had a Rainbow Six mod...

The Good
Although quite bad, SF:RU actually gets a few things right. When it comes to weapons, there is an incredible emphasis on realism. The weapon models look good and sound authentic. They vary in accuracy and shoot better from still, squat positions. The recoil seemed realistic as did the weapon reload times.

Maps are mostly linear, but there were a few interesting maps. All of the maps were large and included extensive in-door and outside areas. Weather effects, including dust storms added to the experience.

I really only had fun playing one of the final levels in which a terrorist camp must be cleared. This was largely because I could both snipe and call in air strikes.

Graphics are mostly subpar, but bullet effects are great! Every surface has special bullet effects that look incredibly life-like.

In addition to machine guns, grenades, and air strikes, this game also has "English bullets." These are bullets that force the victim to speak English after having been shot with them. Really. Listen to the terrorist speak Arabic, shoot one, and listen to him yell "I'm hit!"

The Bad
AI: Enemies run back and forth like ducks in a shooting gallery. Shoot them enough and they'll run straight at you.

Gameplay: You can only have one big gun at a time. Hitting TAB throws away the gun so you can pick up another one. You'll probably want to be low to the ground while you are unarmed so hold down ALT... Oh wait, don't hit ALT + TAB! Get shot, reload.

Graphics: Weird how the walls keep shaking. Blood looks like someone threw a bucket of red paint. Eh.

Personal Slant: Looking around corners, why just bend your head? Bend from the waist at a 90-degree angle to spot enemies.

Sound / Music: Sound was good, but I could never get the music to work.

Story / Presentation: Something to do with killing Arabs (called terrorists even though you're the one running around their country with a gun, blowing stuff up).

The Bottom Line
If this game were a movie, you'd be able to see the microphones and cameras and the picture would keep dropping out of focus. It would star Jeff Speakman and pretend that Mexico was a Middle Eastern country and the people of Mexico, sinister terrorists. The parts that were subtitled would have misspellings. You would also wonder why you were the only person in the theater.
