Shape Up: Battle Run

Shape Up: Battle Run is a fitness game and a companion app to Shape Up. It is an interval running method that helps the player build cardio by alternating the regular pace with fast paced sprints. The mobile device needs to be kept in a pocket while running and even though there is a visual presentation, the audio cues (using earbuds or headphones) are most important to follow the pace. The device's gyroscope tracks the player's steps and each step provides points. The interval training is introduced in short rhythm sections where a higher score can be achieved by matching the steps with the higher pace for a short time.

Quick races last from five to thirty minutes with three difficulty levels that influence the AI opponent's strength, running along. There are different types of opponents and it is possible to challenge friends by connecting to the Uplay service. Uplay can also be used to unlock additional actions and rewards in the game and to sync the scores with the Shape Up Xbox One game. Runs are recorded automatically and players can attempt to beat their performances or share them with friends. There is also a story mode with three themed challenges: Jungle Quest, Zombie Quest and Spy Quest. It consists of multiple stages with a story element to it and a quest ends with a harder boss run to escape a threat.

The game does not work on treadmills. There are achievements and the game keeps a profile of the player's performance based on bolts (a score), burned calories, steps and distance. The game is free and does not have advertisements or in-app purchases.
