Trivia

Sid Meier began working on a Civil War game shortly after the release of Civilization back in the early 90s. Although the media reported on the game's difficult development process and mail order game sellers took pre-orders for "Sid Meier's Civil War," no MicroProse game of that title was ever released.

Meier did decide to shift his focus from "the big picture" of the Civil War to individual battles before he left MPS to found Firaxis. That means Sid Meier's Civil War Collection is essentially the finished product for a game that was in the works for almost a decade!
