Back of Box - DOS (UK):

If you've ever wondered what's it like to hold office, then Sim City is the product for you! When you play Sim City you can slip straight into the mayor's seat and build your ideal township.

At the beginning everything is simple, you choose a well placed site without too much forest (using Terrain Editor). You have plenty of money and you start by building a power plant, then the residential areas, then the commercial precincts and a few factories. If the city taxes are not too high and if there is plenty of work, many people will come to live in your little town to make it grow and thrive.

But you will have to satisfy their aspirations: a police headquarters, a fire brigade station, a football stadium. Later, industrialists will encourage you to invest in a heavier transport infrastructure, such as a port or an airport. Don't forget the railway though which will lighten the traffic load. You will have to set the annual budgets for road maintenance, the police, the fire brigade and calculate local residence taxes.

But as the town grows, the problems become worse, you will have to reduce unemployment, pollution, crime rate, over-population and avoid traffic jams. Will you also be able to deal with fires, floods, air crashes, tornadoes and even earthquakes? Now's your chance to find out!

If your budget is well managed, if you have succeeded in overcoming all these catastrophes and, above all, if you have kept the citizens happy, then you might even be re-elected.
