DOSThe Games Machine (TGM)
Rob Hubbard has coaxed a commendable Heavy Metal guitar sound out of the PC and used it to produce some amusingly over-the-top music. All this, plus polished presentation and fast loading, makes for an exceptional PC product.

DOSComputer and Video Games (CVG)
Ski or Die is by far the best sports game available on the PC, and the best thing of all is that you don´t need a top-of-the-range PC to appreciate it!

DOSAbandonia
Dispite its simplicity, this game is very entertaining. You control a skier and you get to compete in various challenges. The diversity of this game is its main advantage. You can snowboard, perform acro aerial jumps, storm down a slope in an innertube, try your luck in a downhill descent or simply shoot down kids and various animals using snowballs. The graphics are satisfactory, but the PC speaker sound can get quite irritating so I suggest the usage of sound blaster or no sounds at all. All in all, this is an enjoyable game, both for kids and adults!

Commodore 64Computer and Video Games (CVG)
Graphics are not as good as you would have expected from a C64, and the music borders on "Dismal" (surely NOT Rob Hubbard!), but the gameplay is OK fun on the whole so Ski or Die is worth checking out.

DOSPower Play

Ski Or Die does not offer anything new, nor does it execute it with any massive class. Graphically, the figures are a little on the small size, and seem to be outlined rather coarsely. Sound too, is limited - while a soundtrack is non-existant. There again SOD, as it shall forever be known, does have a kind of rough charm. In fact as we skiBrits like to say, it has 'pas de style, beaucoup de bouteille'. It certainly made me thirsty to get on the piste again.

NESPower Play
Palcolms winterliche Spielesammlung macht warm ums Herz.

Wer jedoch Mehrspielerorgien sucht, sollte sich lieber "Nintendo World Cup" krallen!

AmigaZero
Overall presentation is a bit shoddy. So what, if anything, has Ski Or Die going for it? Erm, it is quite good fun to play, I suppose. The snowball fight is probably the best bit, while the rest don't really have much to offer at all. So if you're into snow in a big way, Ski Or Die may be your bowl of Frosties. And if not, it obviously won't be.

AmigaAmiga User International
It looks as if much of the original PC game has been recycled for the Amiga version, and as a result, Ski or Die is rather unadventurous. In general, the events are merely cut-down versions of those seen in Skate or Die, with the addition of snow and skis. It's not a disaster, but could, and should have been a lot better.

NESNintendo Power Magazine
Bionic Leader issues a new challenge for shred heads in a collection of winter sports similar in set-up to the original Skate or Die from Ultra Soft. The five events include downhill, skiing, snowboarding, innertubing and snowball tossing. Play control is smooth, but it will take some practice to master the downhill and ski jump. Up to six players can register and take turns competing.

AmigaAmiga Format
As it is, it's only for those who either love snow, skate-style or old Epyx sports games.
61
Commodore 64Zzap!
This is more than a bit disappointing for an Epyx game. Most of the events are very simplistic and dull with only mediocre presentation and little sense of fun.

AmigaAmiga Power
Fun, funny and partially successful multi-event snow sports sim - quite charming but, it has to be said, really very slight.

Commodore 64The Games Machine (UK)
You'd have thought that after the problems encountered getting a PC version to look as good as Skate or Die did, the C64 version would be a doddle. Not so. The graphics are more than disappointing, the sound forgettable, and playability non-existent.
