Commodore 64Zzap! (Sep, 1985)
My overall pinion of this game is that it's very well thought out and extremely well finished. It's not only very realistic as a flying simulation but as a tense war game. Terrific fun and worth every penny.
ZX SpectrumYour Sinclair (Apr, 1986)
The graphics are smooth and the foes are gruesomely life-like, but just so I don't swamp you with unqualified praise, I would say that my only real criticism is of the lack of colour in everything but the scanners. This isn't a major gripe though - after playing for a while, you get so caught up in the mastery of the graphic detail, you forget about it being largely black and white. Until you've chased a Foxbat nose-to-vapour-trail in some neck jerking turns in this baby, you've never played a flight/combat game.

I found the Skyfox plane very manoeuvrable, even if it was very slow reacting and moving, and got it to do lots of things from diving to landing which was very useful because, as the inlay says 'The Slow Don't Live'. One good feature of Skyfox is that you can advance from the mere tank training exercise to a 'massive onslaught'- (who wrote these inlay descriptions?) Every plane and tank is well detailed, usually requiring a very accurate hit to destroy it, which kept me at Skyfox for quite a while, (in fact the only thing that stopped me was the famous M.E.B. power cuts).

We didn't notice any obvious use of the Amiga's advanced talents, but all the same, for Amiga headbangers, this is as good as you can get over here at the moment. Play it with the volume up and the autofire on.
Atari STThe Games Machine (UK) (May, 1988)
At its low 16-bit price, Skyfox offers reasonable fun, but nothing to seriously compete with the likes of either Gunship or, indeed, more recent Electronic Arts releases.
Commodore 64Commodore User (Aug, 1985)
It may be a slightly better rendition of some of the 3D strategy shoot 'em ups that have gone before but it is not breaking any new ground as far as gaming is concerned and is not up to the high and innovative standards set by Electronic Arts in the past. If you want a deep space shoot 'em up with strategy thrown in then Elite has to be a much better buy.

An arcade flight game which allowed Dynamix to stretch their technological wings as a developer.
