SkyNET is a fun game for baby-Doomers who want a little movie history to go with their shooting. Although not as intense as Final Doom or as attitude-filled as Duke Nukem. SkyNET will keep you blasting into the wee hours of the next apocalypse.

As annoying as the acting, clipping, and sound glitches are, I cannot totally write off this game. In the flooded genre of the first-person shooter, games that truly stand out are few and far between. Skynet may not offer much in the realm of new ideas, but it does succeed as a game, and the multiplayer possibilities are enormous. It is enjoyable enough to waste a few days over and Terminator fans won't be disappointed. And since it only has eight missions, you may not spend more than a few days playing it.

SkyNET is an intelligent mission based game with good graphics, and it's share of both action and puzzles. It is extremely realistic in comparison to other first person shooters and is really worth checking out, especially for fans of the Terminator storyline.

Terminator: SkyNET konnte sofort begeistern.

Pelit
SkyNET on köyhän miehen Quake.

Just Games Retro
SkyNet is a sequel to 1995's Terminator: Future Shock - a game which suffered from poor execution, but which basically had its heart in the right place. The engine was astounding for its time, and the environments were the best representation of the films' nuclear future yet seen. Its mission-based architecture, and rather legitimate attempt to tie plot and gameplay together, also earned high marks from me. At the very least, it definitely deserved another chance. Bethesda takes that chance with this title; the last and best of their games based on the franchise.

Computer Games Magazine
Overall, SkyNET is only a slightly improved version of Future Shock, a game that, even if it was ahead of its time, wasn't particularly earth-shattering. The network play redeems the title quite a bit, but if you're only interested in solo play, you're better off with some of the competitors. While long on atmosphere (the music and ambient sound is particularly good), it lacks the polish and technological advances of its competitors.

SKYNET held great promise. It does complement FUTURE SHOCK (giving FS the SVGA option) and supplies the multiplayer option that was promised in FS. But the flawed engine ends up costing SKYNET a lot of points. In the end, if you really liked FUTURE SHOCK, you may be interested in SKYNET. But for the rest us, it's a gamble. And not one I'd want to wager my future on.
