While there may be scarier games out there, Slender offers up quite an adrenaline rush with its tension filled atmosphere and imposing antagonist. Since it's a free download, there's very little reason to not give Slender a try, whether you're a hardcore fan of horror games or just looking to try something different. Just be sure to crank up the sound and turn off the lights to get the full experience. After all, life's no fun without a good scare ... right?
Slender does well in creating quite a creepy atmosphere for a very basic game. It feels like just you, your torch and the sound of crickets chirping as you fumble your way through the forest looking for manuscripts. However, the overall aim of collecting 8 pages of the manuscript is quite limited and so the gameplay is a bit limited.
Slender is an eerie horror game that's well worth trying whether or not you've ever heard of the Slender Man myth.
WindowsGame industry News (GiN)
All in all Slender: The Eight Pages has a solid idea behind it. Slender Man is a much loved source of creepy pasta and a game based on him is sure to gain attention. Sadly though the lack of a real threat in the game is both what makes it bad and good. The idea of using the player's own imagination against them is great but sadly the game doesn't reinforce its own horrifying villain enough for there to be a threat.
