This loopy mix of Blade Runner, The Terminator, and top-notch Japanimation puts you in the shoes of Gillian Seed, a 21st-century detective hot on the trail of Snatchers — mysterious, murderous androids who assume human form. But more impressive than Snatcher's plot is its seamless design. The smooth blend of text balloons, voice-overs, snippets of animation, and action sequences makes this an object lesson in how to program for Sega CD.

Snatcher is like a good book that you can't put down. The graphic and sound are above average, but it's the thrilling storyline that makes it a classic.

There's very, VERY little wrong with Snatcher. The only problem may be its length and lack of difficulty. I was able to beat the game is just over six hours, with very minimal help. But four of those six hours were when I was locked up in my room, playing the game, having one of the best damn video game playing experiences of my life. This is what an interactive anime should be.

Still, there is absolutely nothing like Snatcher available in English on any console. Despite the aforementioned problems some people have with the way it plays and the mediocre packaging, I very simply can't recommend this game enough. It's incomparable story, groundbreaking dub, amazing graphics and incredible overall presentation more than make up for its flaws.

In the final analysis, Snatcher is truly a great game, and I don't speak only from nostalgia. Its gritty, cyberpunk world, combined with a great mystery, interesting characters, and wonderful humor, make it a must-have for anyone's Sega CD library. It's just too bad that the "prequel" to the game, Policenauts, never came out here, for I'm sure it would have been just as good.

What truly makes Snatcher great though is its amazing story line, it sucks you in and brings Neo Kobe to life. Every character has superb development and revelations, and the twists and turns in the plot are shocking and only draw you deeper into the mystery until all is explained in the games ending, which is over forty minutes long. Snatcher is a riveting game, play it through, and you'll never forget it.

Snatcher in the U.S....thank you Konami for being a gamers company. Snatcher is simply put, the only game of it's kind ever made available in the U.S. You'll find ungodly carnage, the greatest story ever and an interface that is just the coolest in Snatcher, it's just pure quality. No Sega CD owner (over 17) should be without it.

Fans of film noir and cyberpunk that enjoy a good story are recommended to try this one out. Snatcher is not just an excellent interactive movie, but an example of gaming at its finest, I just wish it didn't have to come to an end.

I could write and write and never say enough about Snatcher. Kojima is known for unconventional gameplay and he delivers in spades here. I only wish I could drop a few more hints about the plot to really hook you, but you'll have to trust me. This is a fantastic experience that isn't quite like anything I've played before. And because it throws you into the thick of things pretty quickly, it will only take a few minutes of your time to convince you too. Gamers of every type owe it to themselves to give this one a spin.

Long before Hideo Kojima became obsessed with Metal Gear Solid, he crafted one of the most memorable and acclaimed games of the 8 and 16-bit generations. The only problem is that he's never revisited it on any platform and has all but forgotten the series, much to the dismay of fans everywhere. With its gripping plot and well-developed characters, Snatcher is perhaps the best digital comic ever made and reason enough to make you run out and get a Sega CD. The fact that it's the only English console release doesn't any either.

How can you like a game like Snatchers, yet you despise (which is an understatement) Myst so much? You wouldn't believe how many times I get asked that question, and there is some honesty in that question.

I'm not sure if the game would have benefited from more interactive
gameplay found in other adventure games, but I trust Hideo Kojima
enough to assume that the game is best as it stands. Games like this
were abundant on the Sega CD, and while most of them didn't catch on
enough to survive past that era of gaming, Snatcher did, and that says
something. Whether or not it's worth the hefty price tag it currently
demands is a tough call. It will be a game you'll remember, and it's one
of the best on the system, but many gamers will be put off by the text-
adventure type gameplay.

It's nice to see a game for an older audience. Snatcher is a great adventure that has an intricate plot and nice graphics. While it is slow moving at times, the story will keep you rooted to your seat. A top-notch Sega CD title.

But those have the slight handicap of being completely in Japanese, whereas this translation finally offers you English speakers all the increased violence and unbelievable mounds of perverted humor that you missed out on the first time. And while it’s not a substitute for the enhancements and added content of later editions, the MSX2’s many unique qualities are sure to please anyone who loves Snatcher or the MSX in general. In other words, nerds. Fortunately my data indicates that this more than likely applies to you.

Snatcher's a cool science-fiction CD saga that rewards patience, persistence and plodding. If you've got a yen to be a Japanese cyberpunk robot hunter, snatch up Snatcher.

If you're willing to overlook the odd lapses of stupidity, Snatcher is still one wicked ride. It's got mystery, strong characters and lively arcade action sequences. Some day a company is gonna release a 'mature' game that's genuinely mature, but until then, at least this is a step in the right direction.

SEGA CDVideo Games & Computer Entertainment
All in all, Snatcher is a decent adventure game for the Sega CD. Nothing mind-blowing, but the story is interesting and unfolds rapidly enough to keep you playing. It does suffer from the "cuteness" of other Japanese RPG's, perhaps more so than most, because of it's heavy subject matter.

SEGA CDGaming Target
So there you have it. Snatcher is a is a wonderful game that serves a great example of Hideo Kojima's style of game design as well as paying homage to a variety of classic movies, all the while becoming a classic in it's own medium. However, time has not been kind to both the genre and the game making them both feel very outdated.
