GamePro (US)
Similar in style to Flashback, Blackthorne offers more action and requires a little less thinking. If you're a platform player, then Blackthorne will quench your thirst.
Total! (Germany)

Put simply, Blackthorne rocks. The involving gameplay and the intensely depicted violence make this by far the best platform game I've played this year.

If you enjoyed Prince of Persia, then you're going to enjoy seeing a great game taken to an even greater level. And if you haven't played Prince, then you're going to be really be amazed at the concepts behind Blackthorne. So lock, load and don't take any prisoners.
Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM)
Blackthorne is one of the best action games to come around in quite some time. It's more or less a puzzle game too, with lots of brain power involved in solving it's mysteries. It plays as well as it animates: amazing. The dark mood of this cart is great and blowing away the prisoners is a ghoulish treat. This game is a must-see. If you've ever wanted a game that's easy to get into, you'll like this one.

Even though this review is of the SNES version, if you don't have an SNES, the PC version is just as good, if a bit slower paced, and there is also a version on the GBA, probably a port of the SNES version. Whatever version of the game you play, you owe it to yourself to give this game a try at some point. It's arch-realism may be a bit much for some people, but it is a fun and challenging game in its own right anyway.
