Hudson Soft's SNES version of Disney's classic animated flick is a surprisingly good platform-style action/adventure game.

Unfortunately, most of the charm, wit, style, and, well, beauty of the Disney film is missing from this hunt-and-confront game. The dark plot and derivative action have Beast skulking around his creepy castle searching for Belle, all the while battling nasty bats, rats, and spiders, and swatting bad guys with his paw.

This title seems to escape a decent cart translation. This version has bad control, unappealing attacks, and less-than-inspired backgrounds. The animations are well done, with cute characterizations, but it just doesn't come off.
