The first port of Dungeon Master to another platform was for the Apple IIgs. This port was done while the original Atari ST version was in development.

The DOS-version contains some individual marks: the DOS-version has an extra animation at the end of the game and plays music in the starting screen.

The sound adapter that Macintrash mentions was indeed released in the U.S. by FTL. It connected to your computer's joystick port and plugged into any speaker or amplifier to add digital sound to the Dungeon Master game. Built into the device was a 9-pin joystick adapter.

I remember seeing in a magazine that FTL were going to sell a small speaker with Dungeon Master so that gamers would get a better aural experience. The speaker fitted into a PC's parallel port and allowed a joystick to be plugged in too for those that didnt have a joystick port! The speaker was apparently cheap to manufacture and was hoped to be picked up by other companies. I'm not sure if this was ever released and I think it would have come out in the USA or maybe Japan.
