Of all the many, wonderful RPGs to grace the SNES, the best of all was Square's Final Fantasy VI, released in the U.S. as Final Fantasy III. It delivered on all levels, and set the bar so high in some regards that it still has not been surpassed to this day.

Final Fantasy III remains a must-play, even in today's age of polygons and FMV. Don't miss it.

RPG enthusiasts, pen-and-paper dungeon masters and hardcore role players will all be thrilled with this new adventure. It's a good thing this Fantasy isn't Final!

All Game Guide
Final Fantasy III is possibly the best game on the Super NES, and certainly one of the top ten console games of all time. Those who haven't played it yet, should, and those who have, should go back and play it again. You won't be disappointed.

Some games have "intangibles" that make simple ratings like "sound", "graphics", blah, blah blah just sit there not contributing to the overall experience. Final Fantasy III is the best role-playing game ever made, but there are times when the graphics simply don't impress and the encounters are annoyingly incessant. Despite this, it is good enough to give a TEN, something I only do when I can say a game is in the top 5% of all the games I've ever played. It's a magnificent game.

Gaming Target
When all is said and done, this game is one of my personal favorites. Granted, I know there are better games out there- I’ll even rate some games higher than Final Fantasy III, but there’s something about the game’s quirky appeal that still brings me back year after year. This game is a definite must have, and if at all possible, avoid getting the Playstation version. While it has some great CG cutscenes, the SNES version loads faster, has no slowdown and the sound is much crisper and cleaner. So stop reading this review, go to your local used game store (or eBay), and pick up a copy of Final Fantasy III today.

Game Players
The bottom line is simple: if you're only going to buy one SNES game this year, make it Final Fantasy III --- you're gonna need it to live.

Of all the video games I've ever played, by far, one of my favorites has always been Final Fantasy 3, the English translation of Japan's Final Fantasy 6. One of Square's greatest masterpieces, it features an impressive story, a well defined ensemble cast of characters, and some of the best music that I've seen in a video game. I have seen very few people who have played this game and have been disappointed. Those that haven't played it do not know what they are missing.

Looking back up at those score you might have guessed the final score. However, as you should know by now, C3 is not about 'averages', so FFIII US misses out on the elusive '10' rating as it does not quite reach perfection. What it does do, though, is manage to break its way into the Top 5 RPGs of all time! This was one of Squaresoft's defining moments, so be sure not to miss out on it at any cost.

New before have I seen a game with this much depth and detail. Few RPGs can hope to have the emotional draw this one has. The graphics and sounds blow away all other RPGs. This is the new standard. The Mode 7 scenes are pretty cool, albeit a little pixelized. If you've ever wanted an epic story and lots of hidden things to find, Final Fantasy III is a must. It's almost a 10. Its going to be near impossible to top this.

Have no fear, character development is the only real problem in this game. It is by far one of the best games for the SNES, and ranks among the best Final Fantasy games ever. Own a SNES? Buy this game, somehow, somewhere, for any price. Don't own a SNES? Emulators are better than nothing, I guess.
