Final Fight

Flaws aside, if you're up for a generous dose of amazing animation, rip roarin' music, strappin' sound effects, and just plain adrenaline-pumping fun gameplay, seriously consider getting a grip on Final Fight!

Oh wow! I like my beat 'em ups and even though one of the levels and the simultaneous two-player option is missing, Super Famicom Final Fight is just as good as it's arcade parent! The graphics, sound, playability are almost identical to the coln-op and really show what the Famicom can do. Final Fight is simply the greatest beat 'em up available on any console or computer and it's simply an essential purchase, and bodes very well for the future of Famicom games!

Possibly the best game of it's kind on any console so far. The only superior beat 'em up is Streetfighter II.

Das Gekloppe steuert sich gut, das scrollende Schlachtfeld ist “liebevoll“ aufgebaut und das Spiel mit sieben dreigeteilten Levels nicht zu kurz. Die Idee, die Gegner teils aus dem Hintergrund hervortreten zu lassen, bringt viel Atmosphäre und wird wohl manchen Nachahmer finden. Leider gibt es keinen Zwei-SpieIer-Modus, so daß die anfangs sehr kurzweilige Keilerei auf Dauer einiges an Reiz verliert. Unterm Strich bleibt gut durchgestylte und technisch passable Hausmannskost für Bildschirm-Prügelfans.

I'm disappointed! When I first turned Final Fight on, I thought, cool, it's the best!! Then I found out that guy, my favorite character in the arcade, was missing! the final nail in the casket was the lack of two-player simultaneous play. bad move!! Otherwise, gameplay and graphics are excellent.

Y a dix ans en arrière, Final Fight était un assez bon beat'em up parce qu'il n'y avait rien de sérieux à quoi le comparer. Mais après ça, quand on a vu qu'il était possible de faire bien mieux et surtout bien plus intéressant, il a pris un méchant coup de vieux.

Besonders sanft geht's bei "Final Fight" ja nicht gerade zu. - Spätestens wenn Cody oder Haggar auf die "bösen" Punk-Mädels eindreschen, wird's geschmacklos. Aber trotz der fragwürdigen Brutalomasche - Final Fight spielt sich einfach fantastisch. Von den ausgefeilten Schlagtechniken bis zur Verteilung der Extras, hier stimmt fast alles. Die Gegner sind ausgeschlafen (gerade in höheren Spielstufen), und die Obergegner der einzelnen Spielstufen trotz einstellbaren Schwierigkeitsgrade eine echte Herausforderung. Zwar ist die Grafik nicht übermässig originell, dafür sind die Sprites schön groß.

For those who never played Final Fight in the arcade, this game is an acceptable and enjoyable substitute. On one hand, it more or less accurately recreates the Final Fight enjoyable experience at home, but it's also a lazy port, and fans of the arcade version will find their enjoyment of the game tempered by that knowledge.

Final Fight is definitely on the easy side, thanks to dumb enemies who line up so you can clock several at a time. Abundant and effective weapons like knives, pipes, and samurai swords also makes your quest easier. The city street and subway scenery is colorfully detailed, and there are even a few bonus stages that let you smash up cars (a la Street Fighter II). The audio is lacking, with muffled sound effects and generic music, but otherwise this is a very respectable fighter. Final Fight didn't turn out to be as "final" as its title would suggest, as two sequels followed.

Tragically, Final Fight is a case of fully-fleshed atmosphere mated with half-ass gameplay--so that when you get the game over screen with your character strapped to a chair, dynamite pressed to his chest, you might be inclined to leave well enough alone.

Though there may be a few bright spots, the overall product is fairly weak and does not come recommended.
