While this is a much better version of the game, it still isn't as good as it could have been. I wanted flair, outrageous effects and eye-popping special moves. All of these were absent. What we end up with is a perfectly ordinary fighting game that's essentially Street Fighter II with D.C. superheroes. The only card that it still has to play is that it will appeal to comics fans who are dying to pit Batman against Superman or The Flash against the Green Arrow. Check this game out, but don't get your hopes too high.

Game Players

The bottom line is that it's a solidly game 2-D sprite based fighting game, no better or worse than a hundred other titles. If you've absolutely got to have every fighting game ever made or you're the world's biggest DC fan, then by all means, check it out. Otherwise, it's mostly good for about half hour of excitement, followed by a lot of yawning.

Conceptually, the idea of putting these well-known warriors in a fighting game is a good one. Long-standing heroes like these, however, deserve a better effort than this game, which plays like something only the Joker could love.
