The story continues from Kirby 2. Kirby and Gooey were fishing when they noticed a familiar cloud in PopStar's sky. Coo flew down and said, "Hurry Kirby! Dreamland's in great danger!" Dark Matter is back!

The oddities of Gooey aside, though, Kirby's Dream Land 3 really is a quaint and capable little Kirby adventure that is pretty enjoyable to play -- and especially so if you're one of the great many players who missed out on it in 1997, because you were already too busy spending your gaming cash on titles that ended their names with "64." Give it a glance if you're a fan of Nintendo's short pink hero.
From a gameplay standpoint, Kirby 3 isn't terribly challenging, but it is designed for a young audience that values accomplishment over difficulty. For that audience, Kirby 3 is one of the best values around. It's straightforward, but challenging in a trial-and-error sort of way.
